Terror Threats to foreign players in India?

Well considering it was RAW who carried out the attack on Sri Lankan players, who is being sheltered in Afghanistan, it's not surprising to say the least.

Play IPL at your risk, England, Australia, South Africa cricket boards tell players

England, Australia and South African cricket boards have washed their hands of the safety of players in India, warning them to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at their own risk.

According to Daily Telegraph, the report, commissioned by the players' unions in England, Australia and South Africa and written by the England team's security adviser Reg Dickason, will state the players' safety cannot be guaranteed and threats issued by Al-Qaeda sources last week were credible.

The Australian, South African and English player associations share the security report, which they commissioned independently because the IPL refused to deal with the associations.

Federation of International Cricketers (FICA), the international players' union, expects a mass pullout of players from the tournament this week unless security concerns are addressed or the IPL is moved out of India.

The report will be passed on to the IPL's international players, who will then make the decision to travel to India on an individual basis.

The IPL begins in Mumbai on March 12. Most of the eight franchises begin training as early as next week.

Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) chief executive Paul Marsh said he had received the report from Dickason but would not disclose its contents until he had advised the players.

"We haven't spoken to the players at this stage," Marsh was quoted as saying in The Australian.

"We have just received the report and we are working through it," he said.

"We need to go through the process of talking to our executive and our players before we are in a position to make public comment," Marsh added.

England's Twenty20 captain Paul Collingwood, who plays for Delhi Daredevils, said he is yet to make a decision on IPL participation.

"I am aware of the reported security risks and am in constant communication with Delhi Daredevils," Collingwood said.

"I will make a decision once I have had a chance to review all the available information and talk to the relevant people."

England players told to skip IPL by security experts: Report

LONDON: England cricketers have been advised to skip next month's Indian Premier League by their players' body as it has found the security threats to the Twenty20 event credible in its assessment. Seven England cricketers are contracted with various IPL franchises and are likely to be handed the security assessment report on Sunday.

A terror outfit has warned international players against participating in the event and England's Players' Association considers the threat credible enough, 'The Daily Telegraph' reported.

The security assessment has been prepared by England's security adviser Reg Dickason and has been commissioned by players' unions in Australia and South Africa as well.

"Sources have indicated that the threat is standing up to scrutiny and that the security report is unlikely to ease fears. The PCA has been contacted by England players with emotions said to be ranging from curiosity to genuine concern," the newspaper said.

The England players signed up for the IPL are Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Eoin Morgan, Owais Shah, Ravi Bapora, Dimitri Mascarenhas, and Graham Napier.

"I am aware of the reported security risks and am in constant communication with Delhi Daredevils," said Collingwood.

"I will make a decision once I have had a chance to review all the available information and talk to the relevant people," Collingwood added.

IPL starts in Mumbai on March 12 and most cricket boards have left it on individual players to decide about their participation.

Federation of International Cricketers' Association has already warned that players may skip the event owing to security fears after the Pune blast.

PCA chairman Vikram Solanki said FICA's assessment would be taken into consideration before advising the players.

"FICA is co-ordinating all matters as far as security is concerned. The players' security is paramount and a major concern for us. We are in the position of reviewing exactly what the position is and will advise the players accordingly," he said.

IPL does not deal with FICA and other individual players' bodies and has refused to provide them with any details of the security plans.
