Terror Threats to foreign players in India?

Ok for a while lets consider your rant as true so How much foreign players, Common Wealth Games, Hockey World Cup would be safe in India?

Thats what i am asking you. In the face of Pune blast and earlier Mumbai can India provide saftey to foreign players?

What if anything happend ?

If.....and there is a big if......If Pakistan could have provided better security to Sri Lankan Players....things would have been Different....if...

Lets see if....this if ...happens with India this time ....and If ... Indian security forces are unable to manage the security ... and if the Indian security people run away and not defend the sportsmen.....

And how people wish this if could happen ...the way it happened in Pakistan.

By the way ...do you think these people would have Balls to say hey I am coming stop...they are swines...if they could do it..they would have done it secretly.

Givernment is taking this issue at higest priority. And the word "what if" is a big what. Only future can tell it.

Sindh Today – Online News Chidambaram assures all security to sportspersons (Lead)

All security would be provided to players,” Chidambaram told reporters here in response to a question on the Harkat-ul-Jihadi-Islami (HuJI) warning sportspersons against visiting India. The message from Illyas Kashmiri, a HuJI commander in Pakistan having close ties with the Al Qaeda, was sent to Asia Times Online Monday, two days after the Pune bombing which killed 11 people.

Bottom line is, government is taking all action in this regard. Had there beeen slightest possibility of such attack, either these events would be postponed or shifted to other countries (as happened with IPL). So this is all big mouthing by some peoples.

its time to show we are all in against fight against terror

its time when all country can slap on face of terror

why one country always a source of terror in all the world

Players await advice on India travel

A deadly threat hangs over a number of New Zealand sporting teams heading to India, leaving players waiting for travel advice.

A group claiming links to Al Qaeda warns athletes and spectators not to attend three major sporting events in India this year.

The New Zealand government is trying to determine whether the threats to the events are genuine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has upgraded its travel advisory on India to include details of what's going on. The advisory also advises people against travelling though India alone and encourages travellers to register their details with the MFAT, warning of the country's ongoing terrorism risk.

Terrorist attacks in Mumbai claimed more than 170 lives in November 2008 and last weekend there was a deadly blast in the city of Pune.

Now, India-bound athletes, including New Zealanders, are terrorism targets.

Prime Minister John Key says the decision whether to travel or not ultimately rests with the sporting team.

We wouldn't stop a sporting team going. But it is important we give them the best information possible," he says.

The government is working closely with India's to assess the authenticity of the threat from a group claiming links to Al Qaeda.

It warns international players and spectators not to attend next month's Hockey World Cup and Indian Premier League or the Commonwealth Games in October.

If they do, it says "they will be responsible for the consequences".

Mike Stanley of the New Zealand Olympic Committee says New Delhi Commonwealth Games officials are very aware of the potential for terrorism and have been planning "all the way along" to make sure New Zealand athletes will be completely safe.

But the Black Sticks, now in Perth and due to fly to India in just five days, have decided to stay put until further notice.

Black Sticks coach Shane McLeod says they are feeling a little vulnerable.

"They feel at the moment as if they need more information to come to hand before they can feel comfortable with where we're heading."

IPL cricket players like Shane Bond and Brendon McCullum are expected to follow their lead.

The New Zealand shooting team is already in India and has moved hotel as a safety precaution.

The government will not rule out banning more athletes travelling there.

"Well I think we would have to be convinced that there is a real and credible threat to our athletes," says Key.

Al-Qaeda threats to foreign players
Published Feb 16th, 2010

Al-Qaeda’s chief commander Ilyas Kashmiri has warned foreign players against participating in the IPL and the Hockey WC in India.

After the Pune blast which rocked the nation on Saturday, Ilyas sent the warning via an email, media reports claim.
He mentioned that the foreign players who would participate in the Hockey World Cup, IPL or Commonwealth Games will have to face the worst consequences.

“We warn the international community not to send their people to 2010 Hockey World Cup, IPL and Commonwealth Games. Nor should their people visit India – if they do, they will be responsible for the consequences,” it said.

Media reports claimed that the top guerrilla commander, whose 313 Brigade is an operational arm of Al-Qaeda, has vowed to continue attacks across India.

The message comes after the Pune bomb blasts but does not specifically claim responsibility for the incident.

“The message does not specifically claim responsibility for the bombing, but implies the Brigade’s involvement,” the Asia Times Online said in a story from Islamabad.

India is safe to travel: Symonds and Chappell
Melbourne, Thu, Feb 18 2010

At a time when terror threats and the recent blasts in Pune have the foreign cricketers apprehensive about playing in the third edition of the Indian Premier League, Symonds said he would turn up for the Deccan Chargers with no fear at all.

"I haven't heard a great deal as yet but India is one of those countries I've never felt intimidated, even when the crowd gets a bit uppity," said Symonds, who was taunted by the Indian fans during Australia's 2007 tour of the country.

Symonds said he felt safer in India than in South Africa where Deccan Chargers won IPL II last year.

"I've always felt I was more likely to be shot or stabbed in South Africa. I've never felt like that in India. At this stage I'll be going," Symonds was quoted as saying by an Australian Associated Press (AAP) report.

Chappell, who won more enemies than friends as India coach, had a similar view.

Conceding the terror threats do make it difficult for the players to take a call about playing in IPL, the former Australia captain said, "You have to be concerned about it, I don't think you can afford not to."

"But Indians in general are not confrontational people, I found them very open and friendly. It would be a shame if sport was cowered by these type of people," he said.

I just wonder why Pakistanis are always so 'pleasurable interested' in any mishaps in either India or Afghanistan. However, when the same thing happans in Pakistan, the same people (pakistanis) blame both these countries for it.

Well considering it was RAW who carried out the attack on Sri Lankan players, who is being sheltered in Afghanistan, it's not surprising to say the least.

Well the proof actually transforms into Not Enough Proof...by the time it travels from Pakistan's Interior Ministry to Pakistan's Foreign Ministry.

So how much worrying these threats are ?

Earlier HuJI issued such threats to foreign players taking part upcoming Common Wealth games in India and Hockey World Cup in current month.

And now this confirmation by Indian police also confirmed there threats to players in ongoing cricket game

Threats are always there. There are many diabolical plans hatched against India every single day from jihadis. However make no mistake, India is not Pakistan!!! so foreign players will not mind coming and playing in India at all, even after Mumbai and Pune!!!

Aussies ok with security for Hockey WC, IPL

The attack on Sri Lanka by Pakistani Terrorists has made the terror on sports a reality and every threat should be seriously taken. Only if Pakistan's intelligence had done their job, sports in this region would not have been plagued with concerns.

Listen kid, it was released in news that ISI had warned police reliabely about RAW attacking Sri Lankan players. So they know it was going to happen. It's a pity that police did not take any action but it is what it is. Moreover, the attack was different in nature. They did not fight to death and just fired and ran. Clearly if it was Taliban they either would have used time bombs or blown themselves up or fought till death. Stop trying to deviate from the obvious. Do you need proof for grass is green, or sky is blue? And btw, again, I don't care if you believe it or not that RAW was involved. The comment was directed toward the Pakistani member.
