At least 22 killed, 30 injured in Quetta blast

QUETTA: At least 22 people, including three policeman and two children, were killed in a suspected suicide attack outside a polling station near Eastern Bypass in Quetta on Wednesday, hospital sources said.

Thirty others were injured in the attack.

Rescue sources said the explosion occurred near a police vehicle on routine patrolling.

A police spokesperson said, the suicide bomber wanted to enter the polling station.

"The suicide bomber blew himself up when police and FC personnel stopped him from entering the station," the police spokesperson said.

The bomb disposal squad has also reached the site of the attack after reports that an unexploded grenade has been discovered.

DIG Abdul Razzak Cheema said the injured have been shifted to Sandeman Provincial Hospital. A state of emergency has been declared at the hospital.

The border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Chaman, Balochistan was closed by the government on Tuesday for two days in the wake of the general election.

Polling across the country for the 11th General Election began at 8am.

نامہ نگار محمد کاظم کے مطابق یہ دھماکہ مشرقی بائی پاس پر واقع تعمیرِ نو پولنگ سٹیشن کے قریب ہوا۔

سول ہسپتال کوئٹہ کے ترجمان وسیم بیگ نے بی بی سی سے بات کرتے ہوئے 22 افراد کی ہلاکت کی تصدیق کی اور بتایا کہ دھماکے میں 28 افراد زخمی بھی ہوئے ہیں۔

ہلاک شدگان میں پولیس اہلکار بھی شامل ہیں۔ تاحال دھماکے کی نوعیت معلوم نہیں ہو سکی ہے

واضح رہے کہ پاکستان میں ہونے والے عام انتخابات کے لیے بلوچستان میں سخت سکیورٹی انتظامات کیے گئے ہیں۔​

بی بی سی کے نامہ نگار ریاض سہیل کے مطابق لاڑکانہ کی یو سی 13 میں واقع سرھیا پدھر کے علاقے شاہ محمد پولنگ سٹیشن کے باہر قائم پیپلز پارٹی کے کیمپ میں دھماکہ ہوا ہے جس کے نتیجے میں پیپلز پارٹی کے تین کارکنان اسداللہ شیخ، اشفاق علی، مرتضی زخمی ہو گئے ہیں۔ ۔

زخمیوں کو فوری طور پر شعبہ حادثات منتقل کر دیا گیا ہے۔

پی پی پی سندھ کے صدر نثار کھوڑو شعبہ حادثات پہنچ گئے ہیں اور انھوں نے کہا کہ یہ دہشت گردی کا واقعہ ہو سکتا ہے۔

انھوں نے کہا کہ ایسے واقعات سے پی پی پی کے ووٹروں کو ہراساں نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔

This just shows the flaws in our whole security apparatus. For example the Pak afghan border was still open i think until day before yesterday when Chaman was closed. This should had been closed 6 months ago. Since Nawaz came back balochistan has been on the hit list yet every fucking time we fail and more over there are no repercussions for the enemy.

Are we not doing this for bloody decade long ops within borders of Pakistan?

Most of these people are mercenaries working for money. Majority of them dirt poor who got no choice but to become mercenaries. We are not going to raise the quality of lives of our citizens in next decade or so. And besides, killing the foot soldiers only while keeping the serpant head intact will never going to bring success. All these intelligence agencies who are sponsoring these mercenaries, their home states should be hit in similar fashion, exploiting their own internal vulnerabilities. And that is how we will achive deterence against them.

No we are not doing this in our borders. Most of our actions are reactive when some big incident happens. In areas more prone to terror attacks like Balochistan, KPK and Fata we have willingly act reactively. We were never proactive in these regions. In raheel shareef tenure things changed a bit but in bajwa's tenure we started being pussies again. We ate not going after terrorists. We are waiting for them to attack us. And they are attacking us.

These are always some steps that we need to follow in order. First we make lives of mercenaries living in Pakistan hell. And then we go after their handlers.

Open your eyes. I have been saying this on this forum for months. Let's aggressively find and kill every terrorist in our territory then we can dream about attacking others in their home.
