Terrain hugging

What you need to understand is that missiles have very limited wing area,
thus they cannot generate very much lift.

Almost all cruise missile have the trajectory, of gaining altitude first, and then navigating to target in smart ways.

That video you showed, is only maybe the last 20% of the flight.

i also know something called Ground effect which very much compensates for lack of wing area.
Plus missiles being light dont need that much lift. Also the low altitude they fly in , doesnt warrant the need of large wing areas. High altitude thin air needs large wings.

It's a decade old recording that has been seen and discussed hundreds of times already, what's new in it that compelled you to create a new thread?
You like may others on this forum is a buttock  and a baboon's red shiny buttock.
This video was released after January 2016 test of Raad ALCM. Never before was the missile shown flying this low. So the video is not from your childhood , which was 4-5 years ago.
Also the point of creating a thread was two pronged. One is that the section in which the video was created is almost dead and not much being posted there. Secondly we have yet to see an Indian Cruise missile's terrain hugging video,a s there is none. So it is perfectly fine to create a thread and brag about it and may be someone will come up with a technicality which may trigger a discussion. Its another thing that 90% here are dodo brain googlers who know nothing but pretend to know all.

U R such a sissy cunt and learn some English before posting your nonsensical rant

Hi Shaheen Missile!
First off, we must acknowledge the fact that subsonic cruise missiles undertake very low altitude flying only in certain sections of the flight-- most notably the terminal one. If they choose to fly all low, then the overall range will be significantly hampered. As for the Indian CMs, let me point it out to you that India as of now has two different classes of Indigenous/JV CMs- (a) Nirbhay and (b) Brahmos(which is being indigenized at a furious pace). If you read the publications of DRDO, then you'd indeed realize that Nirbhay flew at altitudes lesser than 200m(in the last trial) during the last leg of it's mission. Similarly Brahmos too in it's anti ship role does come very close to the surface-- the reason why there are no videos of the brahmos flight profile during the last leg of it's mission is simply because it is way too fast to be captured by a camera from a chasing aircraft.
What I am trying to point out is the fact that when Nirbhay can fly at altitude lesser than 200m-- there is nothing that stops it from flying at lesser altitudes. So basically what happens in a terrain hugging mode is that the GNC system holds the altitude constant and when the GNC can hold the altitude at one value, it sure can for some other value subjected to the time scale of the dynamics and error margin.

The Babur has a programmable flight path, up to the requirement if it needs to fly low entire path or just at the end, it is also able to fly way points, meaning it doesn't need to fly straight to target if needed to avoid threats. Trade off of range vs detect ability.

Anti ship missiles are the ones which usually fly low only at terminal stage.

But Brahmos flies low altitude all along?
Remember, at supersonic speeds low altitude air becomes as dense as custard.
Thats why sub sonic cruise missiles are successful as they can fly low without creating much drag due to speed. Supersonic cannot do that.

Hi Shaheen!
No! Of course not! Brahmos doesnt fly all low through out-- for if it did, it's range will be severely restricted. It generally flies in Lo-Hi-Lo profile or Hi-Lo Profile to maximize the range potential.

Never disagreed with that one. Brahmos comes down to sea skimming mode only in last 10-20kms of it's flight, for everything else, it flies way up in the sky. Also it is not that supersonic cant fly low, they sure can, it will just reduce their effective range significantly.
