Temperatures in Iranian city of Ahvaz hit 129.2F (54C), near hottest on Earth in modern measurements

In 2014 I spent the winters in -40C and then the summers in +50C. Not an experience one would want. One day in that summer I was visiting my employer's manufacturing plant in the middle of nowhere. Ran out of cigarettes and decided to walk to the nearest petrol station (20 min walk away). Stayed an hour extra at the station because I didn't wanna walk back in that heat. If I remember correctly it was +51C on that day.

OT:

I remember reading that the highest temperature ever recorded on planet earth was also in Iran but from a satellite in the middle of some desert.
