It's more about need.........since the squadron strength was going down, many southern squadrons were transferred to the west and the east. And since it's the Limited series production version(Mk. I), it will first be stationed close to DRDO centres, so that they can monitor it and improve upon the problems in Mk. IIWhy is the LCA going to be deployed in far away south?
Like a pampered kid, LCA is safely protected deep far south in Tamil Nadu. In the entire India's history, this is the first time a Fighter-Interceptor is deployed in Tamil Nadu. What is LCA going to fight over there? Is it going to shoot down planes taking off from Chennai Airport? Because that are the only planes flying over there. Maybe LCA is only good for that and The Indian Airforce correctly knows that LCA cannot handle danger.
After spending billions, LCA is going to be the king of Tamil Nadu where it faces fierce opponents like 747, 767s and Cessnas. If you Indians have guts, deploy the "India's Pride" close to the Pakistani border!
If you don't have that much guts then atleast deploy it near Bangladesh's border. Bangladesh only has some 8 odd fighters which are worthy of mentioning while the rest are old generation fighters. Or is the Indian Air force scared that LCA can't handle even that?

And it's not TN, it's Bangalore, which means Karnataka, much closer to Pakistan
