no nano would do booming business in pakistan.People may not buy it as family or individual car but keeping in present security situation in mind there is market for nano ie taliban.nano gives cheap option for taliban as car bomb.

Was not your Sitara the one earlier used for these purposes? its relatively cheaper

Good for Pakistan. I am telling you , drive it. It is worth the price you pay for. Now you will have access to world's best low cost car.

.
many people prefer bikes then cars, because of the busy traffic in places like pindi, and for your info, in Pakistan middle class families can easily afford a small car

come on bro, dont say that.

new allto 800 CC . 0.5 million
suzuki cultus 0.9 million
second hand vitz 2005 1 million

all above cars are way beyond normal standards of living. the nano should give some creepy competition to the honda and civic and the import walas. pakistan should make sure the onvestment of NANO asap. it will mutate our industry for good.

basically , middle class is defined as people who already have 1300 cc car. the nano is defined for students, lowe middle class families, women, replacement for rickshaws (i hate rickshaws in pakistan , they are a pure nuisance), replacement of chingchis (gosh) .....

.
Why pakistanis oppose NANO i don't understand!! Its cheap, safe and has 4 wheels. its a budget car for middle class and not for BMW lovers. pakistanis should buy this fast before the cost gets up or another strain in the relations occur.

to tell you the truth, its not going to do business. its going to be utter failure, even our kids are gonna say we dont want to sit or drive on toy car.

why dont you buy this car and drive in Lahore

Disgusting, I know Pakistan Govt. with Joint effort of Riaz Malik/Bahria Town and various other builders started many "A home for every Pakistani" projects. 2 Bedroom house in Pakistani Rupee's 5 Lac for low income class people. But according to Pakistani members on Skyscrappercity forum, targetted people are not buying homes coz it will further lower their social standing!

This car offers 23.1kmpl, beat this!

Its targetted at -

People who would want a second/third/fourth etc. car in the house for city running to get veggies, groceries, dropping stuff off etc.

Families looking for a cheap and safer alternative to the scooter. No need to buy second hand 10yr old Suzuki Mehran.

18-24 age group youngsters, car is spacious enough and zippy for city riding. No need to go to college in May-August heat on 2 wheeler.

Highest variant of Nano is cheaper than lowest variant of Suzuki Mehran, also Mehran feels flimsy and outdated now, Nano has more legroom and headroom.

Highest variant of Nano is cheaper than lowest variant of Suzuki Mehran

Mehran seems to be a carbon copy of Maruti-800..

Mehran seems to be a carbon copy of Maruti-800..

Maruti 800 = Suzuki Mehran, same car is sold in Pakistan as the Suzuki Mehran with a much older 1980s era Suzuki SS80 carburetor based engine. Indian variant has MPFI 32-bit ECM.

oh dekho jeeee .. XYZ jee TATA taay ...lol
i'm sure Punjabi's & a lot of Pakistani's will understand wat TAATAA means...lol

. .
i saw it once
nano is a glorified rikshaw

even indians are not buying it

.
maruti800 production has stopped in metro cities in 2009 or so. alto is the starting segment car for maruti suzuki India.

and regarding the news, I doubt if this project will get approved ..may be if Pak gives India MFN .. Bajaj tried 6 years back to Enter Pakistan to sell their bikes. that did not happened.

.
Suzuki has one of its most valuable subsidiaries in Gurgaon , India....all of the Licenced suzuki models - Altos , etc can be sold on a large scale anywhere in the subcontinent , if only the appropriate trading environment is created first .

TATA's other products Trucks , Indica's, could find a niche in the Pakistani market as well.

Engaging a nation in bilateral trade and economic ties does bring lower the trust defecit. This arrangement is a step taken towards non-hostile or at the most a country with minimal relations. But with a hostile country the first important issue is conflict resolution. Unless conflict between India and pakistan is resolved any investment in pakistan can be potential loss.

Although, India welcomes a civilian government in Pakistan, there has been no shift in policy towards India and still the military junta in pakistan has tight grip on the leash of the civilian government. Unless there is a singular power faction in pakistan it will be very difficult for any conflict resolution. Diplomatic conflict resolution is ought to be a process between two parties, but in this case its difficult to gage whether India need to engage the civilian or the military of pakistan to have any significant change in policies towards kashmir and terrorism.

In the aftermath of the recent events like the dastardly attacks on Indian soil, there has been no clampdown on any of the state/non-stat actors responsible for the misdoings. Pakistan's ISI was known to be the prime conspirators for attacks on Indian embassy in Afghanistan. these covert actions of lead to destabilization of any peace initiatives of the people on both sides who actually want to have a meaningful dialogue.

On the Indian side, there is arrogance because of its newly acquired might and political clout of the new millennium. Any terror activity on Indian soil causes nullification of all the peace talk progress and going back to Status quo. And as time passes Indian posturing is becoming more and more stiff.

Do we need bilateral trade with Pakistan, Answer is Yes.

Is this the right time , Answer (IMO) is NO

The actual need is not selling Nano's to pakistan and buying pakistani cement and sporting goods,
the need of the hour is to be patient with pakistan to get its internal turmoil in order. Progressively softening our posture in kashmir conflict resolution and arriving to some kind of an agreement acceptable to both the parties. Ensuring end of State/Non-state sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.

First we need to learn to tolerate each other, then end animosity, then build trust which may or may not lead to friendship... then think of bilatral trade and cultural exchange.
