What's new

Taiwan sends Marines to protect South China Sea.

Great move..all small players move forward...the arrogant giant will see another humiliation after the The Hague verdict if they dont accept it sportingly!
Aside from this is from 2011. You do realize Taiwan too denounced the verdict.

Even if they were to sent troops it would not be to uphold the verdict.

Pointless to explain it to a brainless Hindu. He thinks Taiwan is sending a warship to South China Sea just to annoy Mainland. There's no medicine to cure stupidity unfortunately. Reality is both Taiwan and Mainland are always on the same page when it comes to SCS which has been said countless of times here. Hindus just don't get it for some unknown reasons.

Tsai has to send a naval frigate to Taiping island even if she was reluctant to do so because nearly 100% of Taiwan people were very angry with the outcome of the PCA at this moment. And she might lose her new administration to the angry people if she does not do so.

Also this is a military move to prevent Vietnam or Philippines trying to take over Taiping island.

Also there was a rumour if Tsai give up ROC (Taiwan)'s claim on Taiping island because of this arbitration, PLAN might just move in and take over this island.

For people who are ignorant of modern Chinese history, Taiwan is the current site of the Chinese civil war defeated government called Republic of China (ROC), established in 1911.

In 1930s French colonial navy based in Vietnam occupied some islands in South China seas but were expelled by ROC a year later. During world world 2, the islands were occupied by Japan. After Japan's defeat in WW2, ROC sent several destroyers to take over islands in South China sea. Taiping island was so named because a ROC destroyer named Taiping was sent in 1946 to land and take over.

The 9 dotted line was originally called 11 dotted line by Republic of China (which retreated to Taiwan in 1949), but after People's Republic of China (PRC) took over the mainland, and as a good will gesture to the North Vietnam many years later, two of the dotted line near Hanoi and Hainan island was eliminated, and thus 11 dotted line inherited from ROC was changed to 9 dotted lines by PRC.

Taiwan is part of China

Really when did that happen?

TW and Mainland always are on the same line when it comes to China we both are part of China but we are not governed my the Mainland.

No you can't.

The CPC and the KMT both follow the "One China" policy, i.e. they believe that they are both parts of the same country.

The big difference of course, is that each side thinks that they are the legitimate government of China.
Very well put, bro.

Really when did that happen?

Who is the "we" here?

From the Taiwanese perspective, it is PRC which is the breakaway state. The world would much rather deal with the Taiwanese Govt. than deal with the PRC one.
Why do Indians get their logic all messed up?
In general all Indians would love KMT to rule to see a much weaker China. But the bad news is, it's not gonna happen. BTW, KMT claims the whole of Zhang Nan (South Tibet). They have the same claims as the People's Republic of China including in the South China Sea. :) deal with it.

This is an old thread. Didn't notice it. Lol

Taiwan claimed all of mainland China, also including 11 dotted lines in South China Sea, South Tibet under Indian control, Mongolia, some parts of Russia, under the name of Republic of China. In old time Republic of China was simply called China.

Mainland claimed all of above plus Taiwan island except Mongolia and part of Russia, under the name of People's Republic of China. It is also simply called China.

So regardless Republic of China or People's Republic of China, Mainland and Taiwan are China.

Note that the Chinese Civil War is technically not yet ended. So PRC can end the civil war once and for all by taking over Taiwan ROC.

Taiwan should deploy more weapons to all of their islands too.
