Considering the range of the Anti-Air missiles on Type 052D and Type 55 destroyers, if these ships just exercise in all of the exercise boxes, they will have overlapping coverage over the entire island.

Besides a show of force, is China getting any data for the possible future invasion? What kind of sensor data could be gained in these exercises?

Also, would China risk flying a plane or missile directly over the island at this point?

With today Chinese Anti-Ship & Anti-Air Missiles range, The Task Force in the strait (Western side of Taiwan island) can provide support to The Task Force in Western Pacific (Eastern side of Taiwan island).

And The Task Force in the Western Pacific (Eastern side) can also provide cover for Task Force in the Strait (Western side).

Interesting, I think Taiwan shouldn't allow themselves to be used as a pawn. US has no business there other then provocation to flare up another war and bog China down in Taiwan.
