Dünyanın ilk denizaltısı 1719 yılında Mimar İbrahim Efendi tarafından "Tahtelbahir" adıyla yapıldı. Bu buluş Seyyid Vehbi'nin Sürname-i Hümayun adlı kitabında anlatılıyor. Bundan yüz yıl sonra Sultan 2. Abdulhamid tarafından yaptırılan denizaltı da ilk torpido atabilen denizaltısı oldu.

I could be proud of it but after making a quick surf on internet results leaded me to a century earlier date than 1719 and guess what... That's not us. If someone has a better knowledge about it I am ready to be enlightened. Btw resources say that the first submarine in the world to fire a live torpedo underwater was built by Brits for Ottomans.
