T-129 Atak & Turkish Attack Helicopter Programs

Why? Helis have their own defence contramesaures, along with manuever tactics and so on.

Tanks have heavier armor so can survive after blast affects when an ATGM ( or any threat ) hit by an APS. But how could be the result for an heli? There is a video probably you watched, a helicopter targeted by ATGM during a PKK operation, our talented pilot and the top of the montain saved the crew from getting a hit. That's why I am wondering for increasing survivebility.

They have very sensitive sensors who can detect such a therat and much more manuveribility and speed to avoid such hits. As video you referenced showed. The PKK rat surly smiling, thinking i got him, It took a pilot just few seconds to react and wipe the smile of rats face.

Only when parked, or on landing, taking off... are vulnarible to ATGMS. But it rearly heppens, expect if you are SAA. lol. If that was an issue, Im sure helis would be equiped with similiar systems long ago...

Helis could benefit from active defenses. It's not just tanks that use them - ships and even subs now use them. The reason helis don't have them yet is because jammers work well enough. Still, in the near future IIR based MANPADS (which are harder to jam) will become more common, and that might necessitate development of active defenses for choppers.

Yes that Turkish helo on the mountain top seen it

How the hell the pilot managed to see the missle from almost a blind stop down below is amazing

Then he pulls hard and saves the day

Alhamdulilla
Muslim forces are helped by “Invisible HAND” provided thry’re on the just path and fighting for a right cause...

Aselsans Missile Warning System based on passive ultraviolet technology, it detects rocket motor plume from incoming missiles. Allows the pilot to make necessary manuevers to evade missile.

That tells you missile is incoming but does it tell you from which direction ?

Pilot would still have needed to get visual on the missile coming in

One things for sure, it certainly worked

decoys cover both sides of the helicopter, like in fighter jets

  • Missile Warning System based on passive ultraviolet technology
  • 3600 spatial coverage in azimuth by 4 sensors
  • 4 steradian spatial coverage by 6 sensors
  • High probability of detection
  • High spatial resolution
  • Low False Alarm Rate (FAR)
  • Detection of missile threats at initial launch phases (provides maximum time for countermeasures)
  • Fast reaction for countermeasure dispensing
  • Multiple threat analysis and tracking capability
  • No need for special cooling

Not just the system but the pilots quick response was worth mentioning here , it also shows the professionalism of Turkish forces .
