Syrian troops fire on Damascus funeral, killing 30

.
What you dont know, is that only minority opposes Assad, and majority supports him. Do you suggest Assad HAVE to listen of minority, and ignore majority? Just because West and Arabs want to see Assad gone, doesnt mean anything if majority of Syrians thinks otherwise.

That said, Assad is transitioning country to democracy, recently was voting for the new constitution, parliamentary elections, etc. West/Arabs and their funded terrorists dont care about it - since their only goal is complete removal of a popular leader like Assad and installing puppet regime, by whatever means.

If only minority was opposing him then he shouldn't have a problem in conducting free and fair election should he? A popular leader wouldn't have to shell his own people.

Assad clan has ruled over Syria for almost half a century now. Why does he deserve to be the leader of Syria and not someone else?

Easy to answer, as I said in another thread: "West wont acknowledge voting when their opponent wins. Like Gaddafi suggested referendum under full UN supervision, West declined. Why? Because they knew Gaddafi would win, same with Assad.

Therefore what you are suggesting is stillborn - West will never agree to see Assad among candidates in free elections, and even if he participates and wins - West will claim elections were faked, even with UN representatives on the ground."

Add to that preferably voting should be done in peaceful time, therefore terrorists and their killings/bombings have to be dealt with before that, same as removed threat of a war from West/Arabs. Pre-war and especially war time isnt exactly the right time for elections.

Probably used the camera for the funeral when it happened. Theres tons of videos of dead bodies on youtube right now being posted up daily.

never seen anybody taking video for a funeral possession, except if the man was famous..
But here it was a civilian... Syrian Opposition too have have crossed the limits very much...
Channel 4 had exposed syrian opposition too are involved in killings.. They reported that they tried to kill them and put the blame on syrian army...
But No one even paid heed to them, cos its a news they dont want to hear..

.
but that doesnt mean the mortar was from the Syrian government, the mortar that killed the french journalist was from FSA it self, the french channel 4 even reported that, that's why you dont hear about that case anymore, ever wonder?

Btw it was a car that exploded

Ever wonder why a French journalist that is allowed in the country suddenly gets killed when the Syrian govt. bans most foreign journalists?

Oh and thanks for the clarification on car bomb.

Two prominent Western journalists have been killed in the Syrian city of Homs in the latest violence which left 60 people dead across Syria on Wednesday.

BBC News - Journalists Marie Colvin and Remi Ochlik die in Homs

Sunday Times reporter Marie Colvin, an American, and award-winning French photographer Remi Ochlik died when a shell hit a makeshift media centre in the Baba Amr district.

Troops are shelling opposition-held areas of Homs, besieged for weeks.

Thousands have died in unrest against the rule of President Bashar al-Assad.

On Tuesday Rami al-Sayed, a man who broadcast a live video stream from Homs used by world media, was killed in Baba Amr.

The Red Cross has called on the government and rebels to agree to a daily ceasefire, to allow medical supplies to reach the worst affected areas and get civilians out, but there is no sign yet of this being agreed.
'Dreadful events'

Ms Colvin and Mr Ochlik were reportedly staying in a house in Baba Amr that was being used by activists as a media centre when it was hit by a shell on Wednesday morning.

Marie would not want any tribute to leave out mention of the people she met, the stories she heard. She often spoke of how humbled she was by the "quiet bravery of civilians".

We've come to expect that wherever something of consequence was happening, Marie would be there. Her signature was not just to go to a story, but to stay for as long as she could, regardless of the danger or discomfort.

She admired the pioneering journalism of fellow American Martha Gelhorn. I always saw her as the Martha of our generation: brave and beautiful. A woman with a wicked laugh, a sensitive soul, and a steely determination to tell the stories that mattered. She had both guts and glamour.

I remember a conversation long ago where she told me a partner wanted her to be what she called a "Laura Ashley" - pretty and perfect in the home. But that wasn't Marie and she knew it. She was, without exception, a kind and considerate colleague and fellow traveller, a woman who inspired and engaged.

Rockets were also said to have hit the building's garden when people tried to flee afterwards.

At least two other foreign journalists were wounded, activists said.

One was named as British freelance photographer Paul Conroy, who was working with Ms Colvin, and Edith Bouvier of the French newspaper, Le Figaro. Ms Bouvier was said to be in a serious condition. The dead and the injured journalists are said to have been taken to a field clinic in Baba Amr.

Activists have expressed fears that Ms Bouvier risks bleeding to death without urgent medical attention and they were trying to get her out.

Syrian state television said the information ministry had asked officials in Homs to determine the location of foreign journalists because it had learned that some may have been injured.

In Paris, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said his country held the Syrian government accountable for the deaths. "Damascus owes us an answer," Mr Juppe said.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron told parliament: "This is a desperately sad reminder of the risks that journalists take to inform the world of what is happening, and the dreadful events in Syria."

Later, the Syrian ambassador to London was summoned to be told that the UK expected Damascus to arrange for the immediate repatriation of the journalists' bodies and to provide medical treatment for the injured British journalist.

The US state department referred to "another example of the shameless brutality" of the Syrian regime.

The editor of the Sunday Times, John Witherow, said it was doing what it could to recover Ms Colvin's body and get Mr Conroy to safety.

Well now you see a video I just posted.

.
i agree.. just so happens to have camera ready for the mortar attack eh...

ohh yeah and syrian army has tanks, has been using helicopters... why would it even bother with a mortar??

mortar was used because the terrorist dont have much else they can use...

really.. why would syria use mortar?? specially when they have tanks, helicopters, planes etc..

this is FSA trying to get more international support by doing these acts and blaming it on assad............ funny even with the new UN plan, they wont accept it unless they are given full power and none of their opponents are allowed to oppose them in their "free syria"

at least he conducts elections, and anyone is allowed to oppose him.. is there any proof that he rigs elections?

That be like saying why Syrian forces use artillery when they have helos and tanks.

sure, when they firing on military encampments.. not civilian areas... , you have to wonder, syria does not need or want bad press about it. it doesnt want accusations of this stuff on the international media, and it knows if it does, it will definitely go to western media.. so why would they do it?...

so you mean to suggest , there was a funeral for this person... and out of no where.. syria targeted this funeral with mortar fire... for what??... it does nothing militarily, nothing psychologically ... there is absolutely, nothing positive that could come out of doing something like this for the syrian government... so why would they do it? lol

its terrorist.. trying to frame assad, and gain more international pressure, and force other countries to step up action towards assad

lmfao... notice especially in the first video... explosions happen.. and it is immediately commended by the FSA in the background shouting, allahu akbar hahah

yeh great point man.... maybe u should find some more credible videos

i can find thousands of videos where attacks are carried out by muslims and they stand there shouting allahu akbar etc

i cannot find 1 video where an attack is unsuccessful or their comrades get blown up and die by whoever they fighting, and then they shout allahu akbar

whoever video taped the above, either is a muslim who hates the FSA... or is a FSA praising the FSA attacks on civilian areas..

.
What if its a US attack under the ''Assad army'' mask? Never saw in my life that zionist media really cares about innocent life so to believe these kind of things make it harder. Allahu a3lem. Making chaos between brothers is not something new and very easy.

.
Ever wonder why a French journalist that is allowed in the country suddenly gets killed when the Syrian govt. bans most foreign journalists?

You mean that French journalist who was claimed to be killed by government, and later confirmed by all sides he was killed by the terrorists? And now you insinuate government is responsible again?

Ms Colvin and Mr Ochlik were reportedly staying in a house in Baba Amr that was being used by activists as a media centre when it was hit by a shell on Wednesday morning.

While BBC isnt credible what concerns informing about "the enemies of the West" (neither is CNN, Fox, etc), the answer why those journalist (?) died is right there. Government is killing terrorists, and Colvin/Ochlik stayed with the terrorists. If they preferred to stay in the line of fire, its their choice.

.
Day by day Media are playing with People 's common sense.

they treat people like idi0ts. Fact is people are smarter than those fat *** of west media, human rights groups.

Exactly. There is zero evidence Syria was involved in mortaring funeral procession, yet its blamed as usual.

More glaring example - do you remember how some weeks ago there was a huge massacre of woman and children, and how West/Arabs media screamed bloody murder and was calling for military "intervention", while bashing Assad as a butcher? Later it appeared it was a massacre done by the terrorists, and suddenly West media forgot all about that massacre. Thats how it works.

Or even more recent example, how terrorists attacked private TV station, killed 7 civilian journalists and kidnapped others. West not only didnt condemned it, they congratulated terrorists "for doing good work"!!!

.
I love how when innocents die in a conflict where the US is involved, all the Americans and slave Indians scream collateral damage, but when it's in another country then it's the govts fault.

1) nobody knows if it was the govt

2) even if it was, it's a war and there's collateral damage.

@ those who actually care about the civilians: the quickest way to stop the deaths is to support the govt of the nation of Syria. The quicker the terrorists, rebels and the armed thugs put down their weapons, the quicker the war will end.

why man? what has a any indian done to you to use derogatory rants? Even many of Pakistani posters oppose the government of assad for killlings of Muslim citizens of syria?
