What's new

Syrian shows off its MiG-29 (Russia's counterpart of F-18)

what you mean?

Close range dogfights Jeff will struggle, leaving it at a complete disadvantage to anything with HOBS capabilities. The negative angle on the gun and extremely limited ammo make it not an ideal dogfight weapon, Slower than her contemporaries and overall lacks the engine power to stay in the fight. The only way the jf17 ( we call it jeff in the aviation world ) can win in a dog fight vs the fulcrum is to fly fast with high energy. Any other scenario flying at lows speeds or below the deck and the jeff is grilled. Jf 17 is too heavy from the middle cause it not to be so maneuverable.

in modern air combat, dogfights are no longer a thing and BVR combat is where it's at. Yeah, pilots still practice for it because you never know what's going to happen, but modern doctrine is to launch your BVR missiles at the enemy and when you run out, you go home and let another flight take over. Saying that the JF-17 can't out-perform the Mirage/Migs 29 in a dogfight is like saying a person can't win a hand-to-hand fight against a bear while ignoring why they're even getting that close to a bear in the first place.

At the end the pilot is the important key not the jet > like we saw the mig 21 shooting down f16.

For which there was no proof unfortunately and a lie Indians came up with to hide the spanking they got by the hands of PAF.

PAF JF17 Blk 2 and F16 MLU can kick a** of IAF Mig29UPGs

I think this was demonstrated on Feb 27 as the JF17's maintained a consistent lock on Indian Mirage 2000's and forced them to exit the area maintaining sector dominance for PAF.

Precisely, he ate some high grass and spew plenty of nonsense.

what gibberish is this, most important things in air to air combat is acceleration not top speed you can't out range and outmaneuver BVR/SRAAM relying only on top speed/ agility

At the end the pilot is the important key not the jet > like we saw the mig 21 shooting down f16.
and you're the laughing stock in front of the world claiming shoot down of our F-16, pentagon and Lockheed Martin confirmed no PAF's F-16 were shot down as well as its is technically impossible to Mig-21 to shot down F-16 because of its design limitations

MIG 35 and F 18 BLOCK III are true competitors specially if they are equipped with almost same range BVR. Than it depends on pilots and AESA and EW backing

.
mig-29 fulcrum with full load of fuel and two R-27 and four R-73==> thrust to weight=1.05
f-18 hornet with full load of fuel and 8 AMRAAMS==> thrust to weight=0.89
mig-29 turn rate=28 degrees per second
f-18 turn rate=19 degrees per second
mig-29 maximum angle of attack=45 degrees
f-18 maximum angle of attack=~30 degrees
:-):-)

What about the avionics ? RCS ?

. . . .
where do you see a sir ?

yes of course what about pilots.
i am giving you a respect bro
to develop a tactics against similar capable jet (f-18) you must have them but Russia haven't f18 to develop tactics against it but USA had lots Mig-29 to develop a tactics against it from Poland/from Ukraine etc etc

no need of sir bro. You called me « bro » this is the best respect you can give me  (lassi key mugs)

Agreed about tactics hence the pilotes.

Indians are bare faced liars what else can the world expect from them? Maybe we should stick cameras in the missiles and live feed kills to the world to stop the Indians lying.

This technical comparison means nothing in war. American tech is far superior and its has proved several times. The Russian BVRs dont even go as far as they are rated to be.
