Pakistan position like Turkey in 80's.KOC group sold 60's cars in 80's at c class price in Turkey.When your GPD increase Pakistan people dont want to buy this and they cant sell it to Pakistan.I guess second hand Europian car far better than this one.

It's same old Mehran. OK a bit in different shape.
Suzuki has milked the nation for decades and still it doesn't has belly full.
They want to play and replace junk with some other junk.

Current model of Mehran is costlier than Dacia Sandero (6900 Euro) and yet nowhere around in quality.

Sandero with diesel engine is good but diesel Duster 4*4 is better.I have seat ibiza nearly as the same price with sandero(beginnig price 14000 euro in turkey) ıt is comic to compare with this alto.Why people buy this for small engine?New Europian engines have very low fuel values.

Good news for middle-class consumers in Pakistan, if true.

Suzuki Mehran should be replaced by a better car in the same price range or preferably cheaper.

does the average Pakistani know that they are being taken for a ride? (pun not intended). and not in a good car

that car would have been a 1990's compact car in US. I guess maybe a 2000's car in China or India.

and 660 cc - i cant even imagine. is that enough horse power for the roads you guys have?
Seeing the pictures of Islamabad's roads and Pakistan's motorways seem pretty good roads. whats the speed limit there? do these cars even reach those speeds?

I am witnessing arrival of a large number of (imported) cars in Pakistan in current times; models and brands not officially launched in Pakistan yet. People have learned there lesson.

Regarding cc of the engine, it is not extremely important benchmark for middle-class consumers. A well-built car with decent 660 cc engine is expected to have excellent mileage and/or fuel consumption and therefore ideal for driving in cities.

Of-course, American markets are way ahead of ours. Similarly, the purchasing power of the people.

that really isnt a "modern" car even for south Asian standards. but certainly a step in the right direction. What exactly is stopping Pakistan from opening its Auto market to other players?

It's the latest gen alto...it's pretty modern.

Pakistan's car market isn't that huge (though has the potential maybe) to justify setting up manufacturing for new models every year (it won't be as profitable as the current model they're following).

Solution? Car manufacturers can import cars from abroad -> Problem with this? The duties are too damn high, making the car too expensive for the market - it won't sell.

Solution to above? Keep milking the old models, jazzing them up every now and then with cosmetic updates. The Pakistanis don't have a choice

suzuki did not take pakistanis for ride. They produce because pakistanis still buy them. Our hindustan motors sold ambassador (morris minor design of 60s) till very recently, with no change to exterior.
if other companies bring affordable cars at that price range, suzuki will be forced to upgrade.

A friend of mine has bought a new Dihatsu Mira auto 660cc, and according to him its very under powered bcz of 3 speed auto transmission and it barely reaches 100kph with 4 passengers on motorway, and if 4 passengers are on board then it will start overheating a little with ac turned on (with poor ac performance). But manual 660cc cars are better than auto in terms of power and fuel consumption at least. I think this is the reason they are only introducing manual transmission. These cars are purely city cars and cant be driven at speed limits on motorways.

That's a terrible terrible upgrade. I always wondered why Pak Suzuki is not producing similar models from Maruti Suzuki.

@Silver , I don't think India ever had a 660cc Suzuki car, 800 was the bare minimum.
