No, India is not a Super power..just an emerging power that needs very badly to put its house in order.

The rest will follow.

It is not super poor either, once & if things are set in order the endemic corruption may reduce and funds would then reach the place they are meant for.

There is no dearth of funds, there is a dearth of ppl who would ground - apply them honestly.

Thank you, that is why I posted it. It is not a dumb article saying India is a super power, it's not a pessimistic one that says it will never happen and it's not one written by a Westerner Indian laughing at those still there, it tells it how it is

Forture favours the hard and smart workers, there are over 1.2 billion people out of which a large chunck is delibratly kept under poverty by making the group lazy, giving them free bies just for being a burden to the society. and politicians play a big role

No need to include Pakistan in an India-centric conversation dude. And the article reports many positive points as well if you care to read it carefully. It's a quite balanced report potraying India both as a potential superpower and a country with many poor people(which is only true), hence the title...........

Denial to the Truth is the first step to failure. We do know we still have a long way to go..We also know that education and hard work is the only way we are going to change that. I dont need to post links..but all of us know where we were in the 1990's and where we are heading too in the 2000's. There is a positive graph here. We also know that a lot of our hard work/Money is being wasted on safeguarding our hard won freedom as well.

We are a regional power at the most..not a super power for sure. The building blocks for any house is the foundation....I think we have done a great job on that, now we need to complete the struture that will be supported by our hard built foundation....

Our designs for the foundation is easy to copy...Please do that and stop being in denial.

On second thought we and our Govt know that their is poverty in our Country....that the reason they introduced MGNREGA scheme in which we spend close to 9 billion$ which is twice to your defence budget...And then we have education budget of 12.5 Billion$.....not to forget up coming health care bill and food security bill

At least in my native village MGNREGA is a joke. People are being paid to clean roads and canals. If it was me I would used that labour to build roads and canals.

i know that buddy Govt has spend around 40 Billion$ in MGNREGA since its introduction 2005...i think it would have been alot better if they had invested that amount on infrastructure..,textile sector or ware houses for food ...it would have provided poors with jobs and would have given govt a good return..
