A bit too late but very well deserved. My father was all praise for CO Tasnim as a very daring and brave commander.
May Allah bless my father and CO Tasnim and all other brave Pakistanis who fought and laid their lives for the country

In his Hangor Day Message,Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, announced that 5th Hangor Class submarine being constructed in Pakistan would be named as PNS/M TASNIM, after the Commanding Officer of PNS/M Hangor (S131) during 1971 🇮🇳🇵🇰 war.#PNSHangor #Pakistan https://t.co/DRVEyxAIOp

Slightly disappointed going by the Picture of the signing ceremony, no VLS. Any how, good going PN as far as standard attack SSK goes.

Don't expect VLS because, for the ASW and AShW roles, that isn't a must-have. Rather, think about the AIP, batteries, piping, electronics management, steel, etc. You can say it's the PN's Project AZM ;)
What about having a second-strike capability? We all thought these platforms will provide us with one but it seems they will not. Considering our lack of dept, should not having a second-strike capability be a point of concern?

second strike capability already exists…before the retirement of Q-5s

How? Second strike capability is usually from a naval asset like submarine. Any other asset means while we may possess a second-strike capability but it's not an assured second-strike capability.

no it’s not. can be via air or sea. ( traditionally second strike capability thought to be from submarine only )

Not at all bro. Air bases are the first to be taken out even in conventional full-scale wars. When war reaches to the point of nuclear attacks, then its unimaginable to think that any of air-bases will still be operational. That's why second strike capability is through sea. Even in the seas, its usually is through submarines as surface combatants could be wipe off already, submarines can remain hidden for long and so used for second strike.

Second strike does not mean capability to carrying out nuclear attack through multiple means as we can do it through silos and air-bases (so we have two options). Second strike means, an assurance of counter attack in the face of all-out nuclear attack on own soil. Silos and air-bases would be knocked off before enemy carries out nuclear attack OR will be knocked off during their nuclear attack.

Pakistan does need a second strike capability. It will assure the adversary that it will face nuclear response even if all ground assets are removed. Pakistan was working on it for a long time. Here a news from 3 years ago:

Jawwad, what you are saying is referred to as “secured second strike” (and is achieved via development of babur-3) …otherwise what i said

Second strike term means secured / assured / confirmed counter strike. It means, "first" strike is done by the adversary, so either a nation has capability to conduct "second" strike or not. Its achieved through most survivable asset in an all-out nuclear war i.e submarines.

Hope it clears.
