Its a stupid idea to try rafale,tejas mk1,2,pakfa and amca within a span of 10-15 years.

FGFA is a surety and so is rafale,,only thing that will suffer is funding to domestic programme and as a result amca if tried will turn out the same way as tejas mk1.

This plane is decades away from getting operational.

Our industry could not put a 4th gen fighter into service (not to mention a 3rd gen fighter)!

You cannot simply start building a 5th gen fighter without having proper experience, technological know how and more importantly the funding (Do you know how many billion USDs it takes to run a 5h gen fighter project ?).

And I am not even going to start talking about HAL`s abilities in things like project management.

Thats what you get from pursuing socialist policies for decades.

The AMCA may not be given as much attention but the LCA (Mk.2 especially) will have a lot of support and some serious orders (200++)

Yes thats the best path to take.............invest heavily into one programme instead of 2-3 domestic ones.
But we should have used a bigger engine in mk2,,,sure that would have required redesign but it was worth it.

At least f-110 or maybe 117s of su-35.
GE-F414 IS is too small.

Is kaveri windup linked to Dassault committing full TOT for Snecma M88 engines powering Rafale to India. If such a case exists then we may see a JV and a new name with minor Indianization and rolling out of that engine in AMCA. But seriously, juggling limited budget between so many asset acquisition seems a bit too much. A prudent measure would be to concentrate whats on hand really and whats in front (LCA MK2, FGFA and rafales) but we may try to show Ruskies that we are serious about AMCA in order to put some kind of pressure on them (which anyway ruskies wont care as AMCA is on paper and PAKFA is under tests)..

Indian cos will be seriously busy in absorbing many tech as TOT from Rafael and PAK FA projects for say the decade now.
So no room for AMCA. We must concentrate on LCA Mkll.
But after we must go for AMCA. No progressive force can ever depend on import......
For Rafael engine tot, I don't think they will provide any critical tech as single crystal blade. Let's hope DRDO will keep working on jet engine tech and succeed.

But thats where the whole mystery is.. if Kaveri is winded then whats our program for jet engine? whats our indigenous aim in building powerplants?

@he-man Any idea whats our program for new engines domestically post kaveri? or we going to indianize GE 414 since we are going for large number of LCA MK2 (possibly 200). Since we respect IPR i dont see reverse engineering, then whats the scope?
