What's new

Stage 2 engine of pakfa in 2017

Too big,it should be roughly the size of 117s and bigger than al-31fp of mki.
AMCA is still on drawing board. and we do not have any reliable engine. May be we could design AMCA to accommodate these

Amca is dead till atleast 2030 when we need replacement for mki's.
Before that we neither need another jet or have money to support its development.

We need to start making indivisual components like irst,radars,jammers etc instead and when time comes we can start with amca post 2030.

It is true, It is stupid to make a Jet when all the components are imported.

The problem is we are yet to be in a league where we could design a jet with at least 100KN + thrust. kaveri for us made India bleed a lot with waste of time with minimal results. they mayb gud for UAVs etc but it threw our own self sufficiency dream down by many years.

AMCA can never be even contrived if we are not in a position to make a new engine on our own (even under a JV or tech support). Needless to say AMCA like craft requires us to meet at least 117 type engine thrust which is impossible for next 15 years. Importing the heart of the aircraft would mean just wastage of money. Better concentrate on FGFAs, rafales and LCA MK2s

btw whats the performance parameters envisioned for the new engine other than thrust?

Making a good modern engine requires billion of $ and at least a decade.

F-22 pilots reportedly had breathing(short of oxygen) problems(I read it somewhere) with their speed. Now with more power than theirs, will Pak-fa pilots face the same problem?

@he-man

thats why AMCA is not possible at least by 2030 surely on indigenous capability. May be post 2030 we may see some breakthrough and ease of finance spending on R&D for such a project

That was due to some other reason,maybe onboard oxygen system.
If speed was responsible then mig-31 which goes to mach 2.83 would simply be killing pilots.

AMCA will never see the light...the unmanned fighter is where impetus is being given.
