we should have weapon sharing trade and ofcourse donate more money like the 200 million dollar and to indian if utilized enough its alot of money and even in a crunch we still gave it shows the relation we have with them

Zardari, Rajapaksa agree to increase bilateral trade to $2b
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Sri Lanka have agreed to jack up their bilateral trade to $2 billion in the next three years, as President Asif Ali Zardari met his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday.
Currently, bilateral trade is valued at $375 million, and includes import of rubber and tea from Sri Lanka and export of cotton and cereal grains.
The Sri Lankan president, who is on a three-day official visit to Pakistan, held a one-on-one meeting with President Zardari followed by delegation-level talks at the Presidency, said an official statement.
According to the statement, Zardari called for stepping up efforts to fully realise the potential of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Colombo was among the first to enter into an FTA with Islamabad.
The president also suggested a currency swap agreement with Sri Lanka in order to provide incentives to business houses in both countries to actively explore and enhance business linkages using local currencies for trade.
Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that the two heads of state also discussed matters regarding bilateral diplomatic relations, mutual cooperation with special reference to trade and commercial ties and regional and international issues. The president himself welcomed President Rajapaksa and members of the Sri Lankan delegation to the Presidency.
Zardari remarked that relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka have also been marked by a measure of consistency and commonality of views on important regional and global issues. “The two countries have stood together and supported each other in all important matters concerning our two countries,” he said.
The president urged the business community and the chambers of commerce of the two countries to fully avail the huge trade and business potential that the two countries offer in diverse fields, including the financial and banking sector, science and technology, defence, agriculture, tourism, gems and jewellery besides promoting cultural exchanges.
He proposed the establishment of a direct shipping service between the two countries, which he said would help enhance the level of bilateral trade.
The president appreciated the Sri Lankan government for the important contribution it had made in assisting Pakistan cope with the outbreak of dengue fever last year, which killed hundreds across the country. He proposed that Sri Lankan experts train Pakistani nurses to deal with such an epidemic should it break out in the future.
He also assured Pakistan’s continued cooperation to Sri Lanka in various fields, including defence and security.
Babar said that Rajapaksa thanked President Zardari and the Pakistan government for according him and his country’s delegation a warm welcome.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday decided to further enhance and promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries in trade, defence, technical education and other sectors.
Gilani and Rajapaksa, who is in Pakistan on a three-day visit, held talks at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad. Their one-on-one meeting was follow by delegation level talks.
In his remarks, Gilani emphasised on the need for exploring the true potential of trade between the two countries. He said that the commonality of views on different international and regional issues was the hallmark of the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The Sri Lankan president said that his country was looking forward to the expansion of trade and economic ties with Pakistan.
Three MoUs signed
The two countries also signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at the Prime Minister House today.
The first MoU was for cooperation in media and was signed by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq
Awan on behalf of Pakistan and Minister for External Affairs Prof. GL Peiris on behalf of Sri Lanka.
The second MoU was signed for the credit of $200 million for improving Pakistan’s exports to Sri Lanka, and the third was signed for enhancing cooperation in technical training in different fields.

Sri Lanka & Pakistan join hands to promote peace and security in the region
During the bilateral discussions held between the leaders of Sri Lanka and Pakistan today in Islamabad, the two countries have reached consensus on ways to strengthen their bilateral relations further and to promote peace and security in the region and the world.
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who arrived in Islamabad Friday on a state visit at the invitation of his Pakistan counterpart President Asif Ali Zardari, held discussions with President Zardari yesterday.
The President met the Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani today at the Prime Minister's Secretariat for bilateral discussions.
Both the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan hosted banquets in honour of the visiting President.
A joint statement issued in Islamabad Saturday following the talks between the leaders of the two countries said the talks were held in a "friendly and cordial atmosphere and were marked by full trust and complete understanding."
Following the discussions Sri Lanka signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan to receive a credit line up to a sum of US$ 200 million. The credit will be used to construct housing units for shanty dwellers in Colombo and suburbs and to import livestock, plant and machinery from Pakistan.
Another two MoUs on cooperation in the field of media and vocational and technical education were also signed.
Pakistani has offered training facilities in banking, information technology, engineering and medical sciences to Sri Lanka.
During the talks both sides agreed to build on the special bond the two countries have and decided to hold frequent summit level meetings, promote parliamentary exchanges and enhance the process of consultations, cooperation and coordination between their respective institutions.
The two countries have decided to fully utilize the potential of the free trade agreement between them to enhance the two-way trade to a US$ 2 billion by 2015.
They have agreed that Governors of their Central Banks would take steps to, among others, open bank branches and trade in local currencies to promote the financial and banking sector cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides have decided to enhance cooperation in the fields of education, science and technology, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, sporting contacts, cultural exchanges and people to people contacts. Both sides also agreed to prioritize cooperation in the field of gems and jewelry.
Among other measures the two countries agreed were, to encourage their private sectors to develop mutually-beneficial project cooperation and joint ventures, develop institutional links between their universities and research institutions, enhance air and sea connectivity, continue their cooperation in regional and international foras and to work together to promoting regional cooperation under the SAARC auspices.
"Both sides expressed their complete satisfaction on the outcome of the state visit by the Sri Lankan President to Pakistan, which constituted another milestone in the joint endeavours of the two countries to take Pakistan-Sri Lanka relations to new heights," the statement said.
Minister of External Affairs Prof G.L Peiris, deputy ministers Duminda Dissanayake and Faizer Mustapha, MP Sajin Vass Gunawardena, Secretary to the President, Lalith Weeratunga, Secretary Ministry of External Affairs Karunatilaka Amunugama also participated in the occasions.

Feb 12, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has returned to the country Sunday after a successful official visit to Pakistan where the President and his delegation held discussions to enhance bilateral corporation between the two countries.
President Rajapaksa, who arrived in Islamabad Friday on a three-day state visit at the invitation of his Pakistan counterpart President Asif Ali Zardari, held discussions with President Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.
The talks centered on improving trade relationships between the two countries with a goal of reaching US$ 2 billion in two way trade by 2015.
The President has also discussed to start new mean to exchange goods between the two countries and the two sides have agreed to expand cooperation in economy, trade, defense, culture, tourism and media.
During the President's meeting with Prime Minister Gilani at the Prime Minister House Saturday, delegations of the two countries signed three Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs).
A MoU was signed for the cooperation in media by Pakistan Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Aishaq Awan on behalf of Pakistan and Minister for External Affairs Prof G.L Peiris on behalf of Sri Lanka.
A second MoU for credit of US$ 200 million for Pakistan's exports to Sri Lanka was signed by the Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance and Economic Affairs Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh for Pakistan and Prof. Peiris.
Secretary of Pakistan Ministry of Professional and Technical Education Qamar Zaman Chaudhry and Secretary to President of Sri Lanka Lalith Weeratunga on behalf of Sri Lankan government signed the third MoU for enhancing cooperation in technical training in different fields.
The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTEC) of Pakistan and Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission of Sri Lanka will enhance cooperation under the MoU.
Under the MoU on media cooperation, the two countries agree to promote cooperation in media by enhancing the exchange of news stories, special programs, and important publications to highlight the historical, cultural, social, sports and literature of the two countries through radio, TV, agencies and information establishments.
The President also took time to visit Thakshila museum in the state of Punjab. The President paid homage to a Buddha statue that belongs to the 3rd century Bc and the relics on display at the Museum. The President also planted a Bo sapling in memory of his visit.
President Rajapaksa's delegation included Minister of External Affairs Prof G.L Peiris, deputy ministers Duminda Dissanayake and Faizer Mustapha, MP Sajin Vass Gunawardena, Secretary to the President, Lalith Weeratunga, and Secretary Ministry of External Affairs Karunatilaka Amunugama.
