Sri Lanka union blames Chinese firm for power plant failure

This article says that:

"A Technical Engineering Union official of CEB, Senior Engineering Assistant U.R.A. Senarathna alleges that the coal power plant frequently fails due to disruptive activities of the Chinese company that wants a long term maintenance contract of the power plant."

Well, this is a serious allegation, if true.

Good quality or poor quality equipment is a different issue altogether. But use of unfair practices is definitely something that should make the chinese worried.

They need to keep in mind that in democratic countries, information flow can't be controlled by authorities (what they are used to in PRC). On the better side, the manager of the power company can't be jailed or hanged, just because the plant failed to produce sufficient power.

China never has issues with breaking down power plants, and the only difference is that the operators are not Chinese.

I also doubt that we'd sabotage our plant just to increase maitainence fees.

Yes.. Thats the real reason..

SL operators should have been more attentive during training..

Funny how quick the Indians jump on "Chinese quality" bashing again, never mind that Indian equipment is so substandard so bad that they themselves need Chinese generators.

On a different note, Sri Lankan operators do need better training. Many are new on the job and managing a 300 mega watt plant requires extensive training on procedure, maintenance, etc.

We are looking towards Chinese as the order books of our factories are full.

Read carefully ... it's the Sri Lankans (not Indians) who are alleging that Chinese are indulging in disruptive activities.

And logically, the chinese are quite up to it, unless they prove otherwise.

(Just there is a lot of "Made in India" labelled, fake products being shipped out of China ... fake malaria drugs to Nigeria etc.)

Quality of Indians :cheesy:

Btw, do you make any equipment? or something else?

LCA, arjun, Tata nano, anyway, you are behind us probably in each and every field.

China always do big. China has left India far behind even in keeping the mega size of the SuperSlum.
