I was there in 97-98, our institute was in a tamil area.. I remember the super strict guidelines for always carrying our ID

99% of the times the bus to downtown colombo would be randomly stopped and everyone would have to show their ID, a bit weird and scary but we got used to it.

Seperatism in SL is detrimental to india's defence requirements. LTTE was not your friend. SL is not like 71 pakistan which was seperated by a huge land mass.
SL is not in a state of war so no humanitarian situation, there is a third community Muslims who are anti indian which can form close to 50% in north and east if seperated based on language. You have an uncertian anti indian North and east and an enemy South which will openly support china. India cannot afford to have LTTE won

However the real question is what interest did SL protect with all your dead ? ....... how many was it ? 50,000 ? 5,00,000 dead ?

3rd time asking now, what kind of sub was it and what missiles was it carrying ? specifically, was it carrying nuclear SLBMs ?

If it is a nuclear attack sub (SSN) - as was stated - then is isn't carrying any SLBMs, obviously.
