Sri Lanka’s MRCA – MIG-29 vs JF-17 vs F-16

Why is Tejas not in the list ? If Sri Lanka makes an order maybe it will accelerate the production

we are making tejas for only our use and we can't sell that to another country because there is very classified thing in it.

Go for MIG-29s if it is really offered @ 15 million USD otherwise JF-17 will be a good option.
mig29 has dozen of variants, which one for 15 million..it is not fly by wire system..and most important its cost of operation is twice of jf-17..

on the other hand it has seen more time and thus more mature...

Gripen has a US engine. Not without strings

And the electronics. Thanks for correcting me...

Btw, MiG-29 SMT costs $30-$35 million. Twin-engined aircraft will always be more difficult to take care of relative to single-engined ones.

Good Question, There are the following reason why LCA is not offered
1. Assembly line is not ready, so It will not easy to supply.
2. IAF will require 100+ LCA which will consume more time.
3. Its not matured, Its not wise to sell immatured platform
4. Cost: 30 Mill tag comes coz of LSP, mass production can bring the cost 15% lesser, Sri-Lanka will not pay 30 mill.
5. Technology: There are many small technology which are developed/co-developed by India, which are used in MKI as well, India may not compramise.

6. and final, India is not willing to sell.

On contrary MiG29 and F16 are matured platform. I will be happy If Lanka seal good deal for MiG29. India, BD, Burma and Lanka, all will have MiG29 then... :)

Srilankan chief was here yesterday in Pakistan and he probably discussed SAF modernization plan. JF-17 is light weight aircraft compared to Mig-29 and F-16 all depends on SAF doctrine.

Even if SAF purchase Mig-29 the option of JF-17 is available, more capable and advanced JF-17 block-2 and block-3 yet to come.

Don't listen to fan boys and tell your suppliers, perform dog fight with each other, and you got to choose the winner in most.
