There was a news item in the Chinese media that the JFT had a second operator, and many people assumed that it was the Sri Lankans(or the Egyptians, who also seem likely). Sri Lanka does not require a large airforce, and would have gone for ~6 JFTs at most, perhaps added one or two here or there if a budget surplus permitted.

It makes sense for the Sri Lankans to spend the money on their economy, the war has taken a huge toll on them. The JFT has to aim for bigger markets elsewhere, it really is an impressive aircraft. Quiet a sight at Farnborough and at Zuhai 2010. Any AF would be lucky to have this, it's amazing how fast the little bird's progressing and the features it packs for it's price. It could be the F-16/F-86/MiG-21 of this era. Very effective and yet very affordable.

May be these guys need to know that without India's covert support to Sri Lanka, or even in the event of India turning a blind eye to the arms smuggling network of the LTTE in the high seas which were regularly intercepted by the Indian Navy ,the LTTE would still be there holding their ground and their dream.

well.....pray that Azeri-Russian relations get colder than they are, because Azeris have expressed keen interest on JFT and surely have the resources to induct at least a squadron
