Jayalalithaa was an Iyengar whose spiritual roots trace to Tamil spiritualism not to Smarta Aryans. Ideological she was in tune with Periyars Dravidianísm in sync with Tamil spiritualism (caste equality, Supremacy of Tamil over Sanskrit) not Hindutva's Hindu hotchpotch
