Russia fought the Ottomans when they were in decline - not to mention the Ottomans were fighting 4-6 different wars at the same time; fending off the Christian states in the Balkans, the Persians in Iraq, the Portuguese in Arab and Indian sea, the Greek rebels, the Mamluks, and ect...

The Ottomans fought bravely and vigilantly - but no power in the world has taken their mainland. Poorly equipped, ill-trained and supply starved Turkish rebels fought off the combined forces of Armenians, French, Italians, British, Greeks and the Americans (Naval support). They won despite being massively outnumbered.

If a war was to break out today - Turkey would immediately take control of the Black Sea and deny any Russian attempt of a land invasion. Turkey due to its geographical position and much more concentrated military could easily fend off any Russian attack and easily gain an upper hand in the war.
