First version which is approximately 600 kg has maximum 500 km.
Second version which is app. 1500 kg and probably will be tested this year has max. 2500 km range.

SOM is the short name of "Stand Off Munition" describing the name of cruise missile family to be used as different roles.

Thanks to sophisticated algoritms and attacking angle mods (Top attack-Direct attack); Escaping maneouvrings and low level flying parameters on land/sea surface, The SOM family can be used for different missions such as Anti-Ship missile.

At present, SOM has a range around 300km. With powerfull domestic turbo-jet engine (3,6Kn) being under development phase in Kale institute, It is expected to increase the range of SOM around 500km. That range scale will be the final one SOM with turbojet motor will be reached (I think).

By 2016-17, Turkey would have developed domestic 3,1Kn turbo-fan. Modified SOM with Turbo-fan motor is expected to exceed the range of 1000km easily. Until this date, The maturation level of SOM with a foreign turbo-fan engine may be on schedule (I think) until domestic one will be operational (As turbo-jet engine development example).

In additions, Every SOM groups (For example ALGM) will also have different variants inside. ALCM has 3 variants manufactured at present.

SOM ALCM A: Standart GPS/INS Guidance
SOM ALCM B: GPS, INS, TERCOM, IIR... guidance systems
SOM ALCM C: Same guidance system with B variant but tandem warhead bunker buster cruise missile.

As It is read on SSM webpage, Roketsan and Tubitak will collaborate on Turbitak's cruise missile. According to roadway, Tubitak will transfer all Cruise missile technologies to Roketsan and Serial productin will be commenced in there. Marketing and Advertisement activities are also carried out by Roketsan along with Tubitak-SAGe-Roketsan names on missiles (See Cirit missile example), While SAGE is keeping to invest on much more developed variants/missile technologies to transfer for Roketsan.

If Turkey can make a Turbofan engine with power of 3.1KN. That is mean we can send SOM as far as Tomahawk goes since it uses exactly a 3.1KN turbofan

- It is the first time F-16 C/D Falcons which took off Diyarbakir AirBase, bombed N. Irak with Tubitak's Bunker Buster Munitions.

-SOM cruise missiles are deployed in DiyarBakir AirBase as well. The F-16 pilots will use/test the cruise missiles on N. Irak against PKK.
