This is a model of the new-generation Chinese SSK.

From what info was disclosed:
- Its displacement is 4,500 tonnes
- It has magnetohydrodynamic propulsion (no moving parts, so virtually no sound)
- It has 4 planes in x shape

I don't know how credible Huitong's sources are, but the picture seems authentic

Just looking at the title I thought that China was changing the currency lol...

Are magnetohydrodynamic propulsion mature enough to be used on actual submarines?

Haha lol I thought it was about the currency too.
The shape of the sub looks like one of those 'modified' yuan we've seen, but that sub had conventional cross shaped planes

magneto-hydrodynamic propulsion works just no where near the performance we need it to (slow). also it creates a huge EM field that could be very easily detectable thus the reason no one uses it, thus i have my doubts

hopefully a breakthrough occurs in solid state fuel cells, that way we can have an all-electric submarine.

misleading title. i thought it's on the currency thread.
