Six killed in suicide blast in Swabi

PESHAWAR: A suicide blast near a police check post killed at least six people and wounded several others on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.


Sources told DawnNews that a procession was expected to pass through Swabi’s Anbar check post. However, the explosion occurred before the procession could arrive.

DCO Swabi said it was a suicide attack and that those wounded were being shifted to nearby hospitals.

PESHAWAR: JUI (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had a narrow escape when a suicide bomber riding a motorbike blew up the explosives near police check post at Swabi Interchange killing seven people including ASI on the spot.

According to DPO Swabi Jabbar Khan, a suicide bomber detonated the explosives tied to his body when the police stopped him to cross the check post. The target of the bomber was JUI (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman as he was going to address a public gathering in a while.

Jabbar Khan said that the injured were rushed to Bacha Khan Medical Complex Mardan and DHQ Swabi. (APP)
