What's new

Singapore telecoms operators select Nokia, Ericsson to build 5G networks

Not sure, hopefully not.
But not surprised if true, tiny Singapore is vulnerable to extortion by the US.
We are still dependent on them, for trade and defence.
From the unscrupulous extreme pressure exerted on the UK, I can imagine the same if not more for Singapore.
Hopefully it would not jeopardize our relations with China.

Too late
Xi Jingping is about to sign off fresh sanctions on you.
No more mainland tourists
No more landing rights for Singapore airlines (including the girls)

Shame to you Singtel. My V90 Viettel 2 GB LTE per day. Monthly price 4USD. And Viettel LTE is very very good.

When I go China, its mobile plan is also very affordable, and datarate is excellent (cant remember exactly).

Singapore 5GB per month plan XO 48 is about 37 USD and in reality is more (there are additional necessary options).

Singapore is a super corrupt country. No one can afford mobile youtube.

Money goes to government. Singtel buy expensive white man equipment and lick white man axx.

Very difficult times ahead.
That is why we will have early elections July 10 so our gov don't have to worry when things turn ugly further down the road.

Yeah we are so poor that we can't afford to watch YouTube on our mobile phones lmao.

The conspicuous consumption of bandwidth in 3rd world Vietnam/China, and the sparing use of it in Singapore, put this first world country in shame.

No one can justify such high tariff, other than gross abuses and inefficiency of Singtel and Singapore government.

5 GB internet for smartphones in Singapore is 37 USD? Rotfl, in Poland, we have an option e.g. if you pay 50 zł for a smartphone (calling, etc. for free) you can add for 25 zł 60 GB internet per month. 25 zł is 6 USD. There are many other options it depends what from what phone operator. The other has a 40 zł monthly plan for 50 GB, but you don't have other payments.

.
One reason for the high tarriff is due to Singapore telco forcing periodic phone renewal on her citizens.

Now TPG a new companies offer just the plain network connections in Singapore. Tarriff is acceptable.

But then by forcing citizens to lower bandwidth consumption, Singtel is actually planting far lower density of base station compared to counterparts elsewhere.

She save cost.

It is really a shytty company.

Lux de Veritas, you're posting nonsense again.

First of all, it's meaningless to compare Vietnam and Singapore when there's vast differences in cost of living and purchasing power. Singapore GDP per capita is more than 20x of Vietnam's in nominal terms, and more than 10x in PPP terms.

Also, you're cherry-picking the plans with different other benefits. Why did you not mention that the plan you chose to compare for Singapore allows customers to buy smartphones/tablets/laptops at a heavily discounted price, or even for free for some devices? Back then, I bought my Huawei Mate 20 Pro for only SGD100+.

upload_2020-6-25_0-46-40.png

Usual price for example:
upload_2020-6-25_0-50-43.png

Usual price for Huawei P40 Pro is roughly SGD2200, so there's a discount of roughly SGD 1100 for a 2-year data plan of SGD48 per month.

So why did you choose your comparison selectively? Why did you not mention of the benefits?

Because you're trolling, like in your previous accounts.

Singtel still save in base station, LTE EPC Core, antenna planting, fiber to core...etc

People consume low bandwidth.

Singaporeans dont have a choice until recently

He got permabanned twice in two accounts for excessive trolling in the past. You're stupid if you believe a troll like him.

The plans he chose to compare are not even apples to apples comparisons as pointed out in post #24.

2 GB per day? That's really awesome.
Singapore telecoms use to give 12 GB data plan per month in 3G era.
But in 4G era, the usual data plan downsized to 2 GB... My monthly subscription was 50 dollars+ with 2 GB data....:sniper:
But now with more new carriers joining the market, it has improved a lot.

Let’s brace for impact
Xi Jingping will not forget this betrayal by Singapore.
He bans Australia beef by citing health issue (the best joke in the world).
I bet 100 bucks he will ban Singapore airlines by saying the Sing girls are engaged in illegal adult business in Beijing.
