Singapore telecoms operators select Nokia, Ericsson to build 5G networks

You must have been here for quite some time.
Singapore is my second hometown liao:woot:

But you know what, Huawei may or may not win the Singapore bids after all Nokia win bids in China as well.
Huawei probably more likely will win bids in this troll(@striver44)'s own country:chilli:

Singaporean TPG 50 GB for 10$ its a good deal.

thanks for your info anyway. I have not kept myself updated on Singapore telco plans. I have been away from Singapore for a long time. Next time I will know which plan to select.

There's are still roles for Huawei to play though.

TPG Telecom did not win the nationwide 5G licence, but it will be allowed to operate smaller 5G networks that provide spot coverage using airwaves that are in abundance. TPG has selected China's Huawei as its key vendor.

Singtel will be using Ericsson for the core components of its networks, while StarHub and M1 have selected Nokia to supply core network and radio network access equipment.

StarHub is exploring using vendors including Nokia and Chinese vendors Huawei and ZTE for other network elements, whereas M1 is reviewing Ericsson, Nokia and Huawei.

"Our CFP process did not exclude any vendor...the emphasis was on security, resilience and performance," Mr Iswaran said, noting that Singapore's 5G networks will have good vendor diversity.

He also said that Singapore's 5G ecosystem will continue to evolve, creating "further opportunities for participation".

Lol it's an open tender and Huawei wasn't excluded.

But I guess Huawei must win in an open tender, otherwise we must be a lapdog of the US lmao.

I bet when somebody's numbers don't win in Toto they cry that it is because you are a lapdog of the US.

Nokia is a loser company aggregation. Nokia, Alcatel, Lucent, Motorola.

Not sure how they integrate internally.

Totally useless.

Singaporean TPG 50 GB for 10$ its a good deal.

You can even use it too even when you travel to Malaysia and Indonesia, but I think it's a bit slow in other countries.

25 June 2019 - TPG will offer free unlimited data roaming in Malaysia and Indonesia for its subscribers from mid-July 2019. TPG subscribers can enjoy hassle-free roaming as part of their existing service without any additional roaming subscription.

While roaming, users can also make unlimited calls to Singapore mobile numbers and 20 call minutes to Singapore fixed lines. All incoming calls and SMS are free.

The company’s Executive Chairman, David Teoh, said, “TPG is pleased to offer free unlimited data roaming in Malaysia and Indonesia. These two countries are two of the top travel destinations for Singaporeans due to their proximity, so many of our customers will be able to save and break away from existing high roaming charges.”

Let’s brace for impact
Xi Jingping will not forget this betrayal by Singapore.
He bans Australia beef by citing health issue (the best joke in the world).
I bet 100 bucks he will ban Singapore airlines by saying the Sing girls are engaged in illegal adult business in Beijing.
Not likely.
Maybe some sanctions from net warriors.
We are solid partners with China, land of our ancestors.
The Chinese not so barbaric like others who go rioting and killing innocent civilians over one oil rig.

No worry, but times will be bad due to global recession coming.
CHEERS

What else can Singtel Starhub, offer to Huawei after 5GC and gNodeB was given to Ericsson or Nokia?

Almost nothing left on the mobile domain.

Basically Huawei will get nothing. While loser Nokia got about 50% of marketshare.

Nobody is mad. Just find it ridiculous where the so call efficient and super talent in Singapore are choosing to use bankrupt alliance Nokia product.

Maybe nokia and motorola offer something special or more efficient than other contender.

It was widely known in industries that Huawei’s implementation of 5G that sets it apart. It’s the lowest-cost provider and the only provider of end-to-end solutions for national telecoms: from servers to cell towers to handsets, all designed to perform perfectly with each other.

Even minor US operators concede that without Huawei will be forced to integrate multiple vendors of more costly, less functional, less compatible, less upgradeable components and pay twice as much, take twice as long and endure years of inferior service.

Huawei is literally unrivaled in enhanced mobile broadband. Only Huawei produces every element of a 5G system and assembles turnkey networks–from antennas to the power stations to chips–at scale and cost. It’s just what busy telcos want: one-stop shopping at a fraction of the cost of competitors. And Huawei manufactures its own ICs and components, too.

There are many other advantages.

Singapore government and business leaders are treacherous to Singapore.
