Singapore Breaks Down Covid Deaths by Vaccine, With Moderna Seeing Lowest Rate

Real world studies in SG, Malaysia, and Chile shows the same results; Pfizer > Sinovac. Antibody studies in SG, HK, and Thailand shows the same results; Pfizer > Sinovac. Even the head of China's CDC Gao Fu expressed similar concerns.

But yeah, we should not take vaccines since there are more deaths currently than back in 2020 according to your 'ground reality' logic LOL.
There are different studies show different results from day one, but it's not what we really care, we care more about the reality on the ground. who says we should not take vaccines? in China most population have already taken the vaccines, I m also fully protected, they work fine, everyone should be vaccinated.

Another two grim milestones being set hours ago in US
The number of patients with Covid-19 in U.S. hospitals surpassed last winter’s peak over the weekend and the country reported another single-day record of nearly 1.5 million new cases on Monday, two grim milestones as the nation’s health system grapples with the extremely contagious omicron variant.

There were 144,441 Americans hospitalized with the virus as of Sunday, above the prior high mark of 142,315 patients recorded about a year ago on Jan. 14, according to data tracked by the Department of Health and Human Services, and the count has climbed to 147,000 as of Tuesday.

who says we should not take vaccines?

Because you're comparing the West to China directly without normalizing data. Which is like saying we should not take vaccines since there are more deaths now than back in 2020 when we don't have vaccines. Obviously it's untrue, because the data is not normalized to account for differences in culture, demographics, lockdowns, masking policies etc.

Would the West be better off if they used Sinovac? Would China not be able to remain her low Covid numbers if they used mRNA vaccines? For Singapore (or other countries for that matter), which vaccines should we adopt to reduce deaths as much as possible while returning to normalcy?

.
When seeing world record setting, over one million new infections daily in US and runaway infections in UK, the OP topic and arguement is meaningless and funny.

The OP is talking about death rates not positive cases.

Most of the deaths are unvaccinated people.
Data from other countries who both use Sinovac and mRNA vaccines show similar conclusions. What's more in Singapore, recipients of Sinovac need 3 doses to be considered fully vaccinated.
4 in Chile
"The country's campaign started with the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine, and the expansion of the programme to include fourth doses will use a combination of Sinovac, Pfizer and AstraZeneca jabs."

I just pointed out its meaningless comparing those vaccines due to the current situation. its you comparing vaccines, not me.

. .
I just find it's hilarious when daily new infection global records are being set in US and Europe ever couples of hours and here there are still some people arguing which vaccines are better than others.
Nothing hilarious about it, unless you find personal joy in it. It is sad. We have the same issue in Canada.

Covid can still be caught by people vaccinated but the purpose of the vaccine is to prevent and reduce hospitalizations. Yet, unvaccinated people are still in large numbers that has this pandemic at large.

(Bloomberg) -- Singapore saw the fewest deaths among those administered with a Moderna Inc. shot and the most among those who received Sinovac Biotech Ltd.’s vaccine, as the city-state’s highly inoculated population provides a glimpse into how different immunizations are holding up in the real world.

Of the 802 people who died from Covid-19 last year in the city-state, 555 or about 70% weren’t fully vaccinated, health minister Ong Ye Kung told the parliament Monday, showing the life-saving impact of inoculation.
Singapore found 11 deaths per 100,000 among people who received Sinovac shots and 7.8 deaths among those with Sinopharm. This number fell to 6.2 deaths for those with mRNA shots from Pfizer Inc.-BioNTech SE and 1 fatality in those who were administered the vaccines from Moderna.

While Ong added some caveats in his comments -- the sample size was small and did not account for factors like age and timing of vaccine doses -- the findings will likely add to concerns around the efficacy of Sinovac’s and Sinopharm Group’s inactivated virus jabs, which have been widely used in the developing world. Initial laboratory studies have already suggested that Sinovac, even with a booster dose, is not effective against the highly-transmissible omicron variant that’s now dominating the world.

The new and highly mutated variant is not yet circulating widely in the city-state, which has recorded more than 285,000 Covid infections throughout the pandemic and largely relied on the mRNA vaccines made by Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech to grapple with a virus surge caused by the Delta variant last year. About 87% of the total population was fully vaccinated as of Jan. 8, according to Ministry of Health data.

Living with Covid

Ong reiterated that the key strategy remains to live with Covid-19, which includes not locking down the country’s borders. The government “cannot over-liberalize all social activities” and remove all restrictions. Singapore will respond “flexibly and appropriately to twists and turns that the pandemic situation may take,” he said.

Among other details from Ong’s remarks to Parliament:
  • Expects omicron to become dominant variant within next few weeks
  • Singapore’s ICU manpower has increased by 12% over the past year to about 1800, and the city-state is training about 500 more staff to assist with such operations
  • There are no plans to introduce different rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated children below 12 years in overall school settings, Ong said
  • Since vaccination for younger kids kicked off over the last few weeks, there have been no serious adverse events reported so far, senior minister of state for health Janil Puthucheary also said in parliament
So super duper Pfizer is only as effective at preventing death as sinopharm? Lolol

This is what I mean, comparing vaccines at this stage is pointless.

GoS has just stepped up negative propaganda against Sinovac as now it is evidence that HK people are dumping mRNA in dove, just few months after HK people spreading their legs to mRNA. HK used to hate Sinovac.

My HK contact informed me that while HK doctors is scandalizing Sinovac, but there are rampant speculations that mRNA has cause many death in HK, all covered up. And many people are telling one another they got many ailments after mRNA.

The moment SG people confirm the truth mRNA has a higher casulty rate, PAP government will collapse.

Like OYK said in the OP post:

The confidence level for Sinopharm is the lowest here because,

1) Smallest sample size. Only around 30k in SG jabbed Sinopharm. 7.8 deaths per 100K means only 2 deaths have been recorded in the 30k population. Any more or less single death could easily skew the results.

2) It was rolled out the latest, only in Sept last year, compared to Pfizer in January (earliest).

This means that Pfizer had a longer time frame to 'accumulate' deaths from Jan to Dec, compared to Sept to Dec for Sinopharm. Those who are vaccinated with Pfizer earlier in the year (Jan~March) also had their efficacy wane towards the end of the year when peak deaths occured.

This would be a more accurate study which accounted for differences in age, gender, race, housing type and the daily differences in infection rate:

Pick the safest vaccine as possible.

Because we are not only taking it once or twice but multiple times for the rest of our life.

If the safest vaccine is not available, it's fine to pick the more dangerous one, since there's no alternative, it's better than no vaccine at all.

.
Chinese vaccines are considered the safest because they use the same vaccine method like what they use for many centuries for vaccines even if they don't have high antibodies level.

Data is data regardless of size, it could also skew the other way, with a bigger dataset, the less death.

Agree!

Singapore government made a wrong decision.

To make the public calm, like it or not, they must lie.

All the so-called experts are actually just book experts.

Since many of them are USA graduates, so no wonder what they read is from USA sources.

If the source is flawed, so they are.

It's propaganda.

Their only solution is mRNA vaccine.

Like it or not, they must use it, and keep the public calm.
