From government viewpoint, these new comer with money and knowledge can help the economy.
Yet the local people will first see over-crowded, more jobs taken by new comer..
It is not only in SG, inside China there are also such complains..

Actually, by flooding us with foreigners, the fresh graduates are deprive of training. Why train graduates when you can get a 10-20 years experience guy.

Singaporeans do not want to stop the top talent from coming. We welcome them as we are the most non racist people.

What we hate is PAP government flooding us with criminals, prostitute, half bake "non talent" professional, fake degree...etc.

To dilute our vote, scholarships are given to foreigners even when locals have better results.

Meanwhile, the PAP government who is rich and who owns a lot of land prosper scandalously.

Once the flood gate opened wide since 1990s, there were many problems and we hate it. There is no background check of foreigners in Singapore because our government simply want them in to suppress locals. The rich want them in to keep the wages low. The rich want them in to jack up property price.

Recently there is a case of PRC toy boy with fake degree, fake companies, fake salary. No background check and this toy boy nearly embezzle around US$30 million of a taitai until the anger of local prompt our government to sue this chap in court. This guy nearly walk off because our government like foreigners and there are so many shit in this whole immigration game that our government does not want to expose.

Many suspect this is an attempt by our government to create discord among people, to continue property ponzi and to suppress wages. We have too good racial relationship that our government want something worse.

Nobody here has problems with Arabs or even Indonesian Muslims. Those who make it here are much secular, wealthy and do not compete directly with Singaporeans in job market.

Also Arabs bring business for Singaporeans. There are visibility of Arabs using our hospital and I am not too sure if any agreement are signed to use us as a medical hub.

There are burqa women and sometimes, seen in posh district. We just don't care as we are multi-racial.

Arabs and Han Chinese are the two biggest ethnic groups in the world and have had ancient friendly ties. The Arab world is one of the biggest trading partners of China and vice versa. Natural allies in my view. I see a big potential. No sane Arab will trust the West 100%. I believe the same with Chinese.

You must know that burqa has nothing to do with Arab world or Arabs. It is not even an Arab word but a Farsi (Persian) word. Burqa is worn in Afghanistan and tribal Pashtun areas of Pakistan and was also once worn in Iran and Tajikistan.

The most conservative dress worn in the Arab world is a niqab but overall a small percentage of Arab women wear a niqab. Do not forget that we have million of Christian Arabs (the first Christians on the planet were Arabs outside of the small minority of Jews that adopted the religion) and atheists.

The Indians here are famous for ethnic nepotism that even local Indians piss off. The wage level of Indians are high because they are preffered by white an MNC, and once they are in, the department are completely sanitized and only Indians are welcome.

The PRC, Japan and Korean MNC like Huawei, Panasonic, Samsung do not take in much Indians because they are meritocratic. Cannot explain why Indians thrived in white man MNC but not in PRC MNC.

I know Chinese are not favorable due to industrial espionage of China. This is a price for Chinese to pay as a competitor of USA.

If you look at academic record of US Chinese and US Indians base on Intel prize, Chinese are clearly outsmart Indians but in the end all big tech prefer Indians even as juniors.

To the chagrin of Singaporean Chinese, our leaders (most are anglicized Chinese) keep flooding us with Indians. I suspect our leaders are doing this because

1. USA may be trying to help Indians by asking us to take them in to dilute the power of Chinese.

3. Indians software engineers paid lower salary. Many Chinese are greedy and they cannot see far consequence.

I know 1 indian from singapore who worked in a senior position within the department in Holland for several years due to mnc internal transfer. the 1st he did was to get rid of a brilliant ethnic chinese lady (who is locaL Dutch btw, born here, postgrad from one of Holland's best universities, a friend of mine knows her well) in his team, replacing her with his tribal pal - another unqualified big-mouth Indian just like him from his singapore department, while kissing the whiteman's arse like no tomorrow. the next thing i knew was that he returned to singapore after several years, with his indian pal (indian from india with a short-term residence permit in singapore) stationing here in holland in his place permanently btw, I was told that the 1st indian (in his 40s married with 2 kids) had a reputation of constant sexual harrassment of junior teammates, both dutch girls and an australian girl. the poor girls were too scared to report him.

I am ethnic Chinese.

Whites, or strictly say WASPs, like / "like" Indians mainly due to the following:

1. historical reasons: "Indians" were conquered slaves of WASPs who have known "Indians" inside out for centuries. They know whom "Indians" were/are and how to control "Indians" then /now/in the future, hence not an intellectual threat to whiteman at all. How doesn't like his dog in such a scenario?

2. Indians' general characteristics of being extravert, with a big-mouth bragging culture ( compared to much more intravert - so called "Low EQ", disciplined, diligent and intelligent East Asians who are deemed as the real threat of Whiteman's global hegmony) are seen as a plus, unfortunately, in the West, and to be fair in most other countries in the world as well where the common human misconception is that the one who speaks the loudest is the smartest and the most capable (the ones who are intravert are "low-EQ") , where delivering the dirt is not important as long as you can promise the gold... Sterotype Indians therefore fit the image perfectly. On top of that, Indians's nauseating way of contantly kissing Whitemans' arse makes them even more "popular" and "funny" amongst most whites, hence high degree of acceptance rate from the WASPs elites.
