What's new

Sindhri is the best mango. Period.

There are only two kinds of mango lovers in the world.

Those who think Sindhri is the king or those who haven't had one.

My family has a large mango farm that we rent out each year. If this variety is good then we should grow it here as well. We can also try to go for a GI on this breed like basmati.

Have been to many editions of International Mango Festival and had my share of good experiences with wide variety of mangoes. No single mango has it all, but globally Alpanso(Ratnagiri) is rated best for raw consumption, because of its combination of color, flavor, smell and impact on taste with aging.

Most of the 5 star chefs present at exhibition prefer to use a combination of mangoes to get right blend. But in general they vote for Alpanso (Ratnagiri) from specific farms.

We have to conduct a vote here...problem is most of you Pakistanis are from Punjab and Sindhri isnt freely available in Punjab. I bet anyone who has had Sindhri mango once will look at other mangos as something like apricots.

Its peel is like paper thin and there is zero resha inside, just melts in your mouth like chocolate.

Hi,

Not all anwar ratol and langras are created equal---it depends on the area and the quality of the graft---. The very best are from the multan---khanewal region.

Just like a Toyota corolla has models like CE, LE, XLE, LIMITED EDITION, COROLLA S or others----same thing with Langra and Awar Ratols---not all of them are created equal.

The best of the best is Samar Bahisht-----.

The thing is that each and every mango has its own flavor---. My grand fathers farm in its prime had 28 different kinds of mangos----. Each distinct in flavor---we could tell just by smelling the broken leaf what kind of mango it was----.

The bottom line is that farm and the soil and the graft has to do a lot about the quality----and last but not the least---the ethnic area that you are from---you may like the mangos of that area better.

says the one who has not even seen the Anvartol

Obviously says the one who has not tasted hapus/alphonso .

May rating based on actual eating experience.

1. Anvaratol - Taste
2. Chaunsa - Taste, smell
3. Dosehri - Sweetness
4. Saroli - sweetness
5. Sindhri - shape, texture, pulp
6. Langra - hairy stone

You have to have lassi as a safety measure.
The mango is very hot .. and if you don't have lassi
you'd either bleed through the nose, or get pimples and stuff.

Lassi cools u down.

Every year you tell us about the "sweeter than honey" mangoes but you never offer it to us. 8-)

They cannot be offered.

It is impossible to export then efficiently.

The sweeter the fruit is, the sooner bacteria will flourish in it.

Sindhri isn't just ultra sweet, but has a thin skin which is very easy to damage with moisture.

You don't understand.

Mango like Sindhri can only be appreciated in the farm.

Like I said before, it is impossible to export them, and transport them.

Even within the country, the mango is picked raw, and then allowed to mature in cold storage.

The real taste of Mango is fresh from the farm; of a mango that ripens on the tree.

You Indians can yap all you want; I don't blame you
you just don't know what you are talking about.
