wow..that is just great news fellas...

why dont India cancel developing Brahmos- 2 hypersonic which is in still paper and replace it with 3 times Succesfully tested Shaurya hypersonic????

Or is Shaurya bigger than Brahmos ????

Kinetic .Food for thought With warhead equivalent to 1 Ton it covers 750km ,what if we fit 500kg smart warhead ,it might go 1200+KM..

Shaurya's range was reported to be 2000+ km with 350 kg warhead. . . . .

Shourya is the land-variant of the K-15 underwater missile that is being fitted into India’s nuclear-powered submarine, Arihant. So Shourya can be used by both the Navy and the Army. It can carry both nuclear and conventional warheads.

invincible combo :yahoo:

Official (unedited) DRDO statement @16.52: The DRDO developed 700-km range Shourya Missile was successfully flight tested at 2.30PM from Launch Complex III of ITR, Balasore on 24th Sep 2011. The missile was launched from a cannister in a ground launch mode. The launch of the missile was perfect like in text book and followed the path exactly to the predefined target in Bay of Bengal. All the Radar Stations, Telemetry Stations, Electro-Optical Stations all along the East Coast have tracked and monitored all the mission parameters. Ships located near the target have also tracked and witnessed the final event. The Missile has reached the target within few meters accuracy. The Missile is equipped with multiple advanced computing systems, very high accuracy navigation and guidance systems. DRDO Chief Controller Shri Avinash Chander congratulated all the scientists and employees of DRDO and other establishments. Director DRDL Shri P Venugoplalan, Director ITR Shri SP Dash, Director SPIC Shri Satish Kumar and Programme Director AK Chakravarti have monitored all the preparatory operations. Shri A Joseph Project Director and team have prepared the missile and conducted the launch flawlessly.

Livefist: India's Nuke-capable Shaurya Tested Again [UPDATED]

NOTE:THis is 2008 Video.
Hey in this video at 15-16 sec of missile launch, missile was offed and later it regained . It might be any tech problem, not stage variation . right?

Brahmos-2 is different. It will be smaller, lighter, lower altitude flight and with a scramjet engine.

and main thing is it cannot be intercepted(stealthy , agile, maneuverable and anti ABM features)

It can be intercepted but much more difficult than other missiles.

It is called stage separation. Shaurya has better stage separation system than earlier missiles. It virtually stops and the second stage starts, more reliability.

dunno about your queries but it is 2008 video..

So,it's official now.Flat trajectory,40 km service altitude,rounded nose,powered terminal flight,s manuever-Shaurya is infact a hypersonic cruise missile.

yeah it is confirmed. these two journos has more inside info and technical knowledge than any other Indian defence journos. Power till hit is an excellent feature for high maneuverability.

what are comparable missiles to shourya ?
Are there any other Hypersonic Cruise missile with 750Km(1 ton warhead) in this world????

I am not sure but most possibly no. Russia/US may or may not have it.

Perhaps Russian Iskander ( quasi ballistic)

# Iskander-M – version for Russian armed forces. Range: 400 km with a potential for extension to INF Treaty violating 500 km.[8][8][9]
# Iskander-E – export version, specially designed to meet MTCR restrictions. Range: ~280 km.
# Iskander-K – top secret variant with Cruise missile P-500 with range up to 2000 km

India flight-tests 750 km-range Shourya missile

India on Sunday flight-tested state-of-the-art nuclear capable 'Shourya' missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur off Orissa coast, about 15 km from Balasore.

The surface-to-surface missile took off from an underground silo at the launch complex-3 in the ITR at about 1428 hours, defence sources said.

It was the second developmental trial of the missile. The first test of the missile was successfully conducted on November 12, 2008 from the same base, they said.

"This developmental flight trial is part of the on-going technology refinement work undertaken by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO)," said a defence official.

The sophisticated missile combines simplicity of operation with low maintenance. It can be easily handled, transported and stored within the canister for longer shelf life, he said.

The high manoeuvrability of the missile makes it less vulnerable to available anti-missile defence systems.

Shourya, which can carry a one-tonne nuclear and conventional warhead over 750 kilometers, is powered by 2-stage solid fuel.

"We have designed the Shourya missile in such a manner that it can be launched from under water as easily as from land. The gas-filled canister that houses the missile fits easily into a submarine. The underwater leg of the nuclear trial needs to be totally reliable and needs a state-of-the-art missile," said a defence scientist associated with the project.

As a safety measure, prior to the test, Balasore district administration had temporarily evacuated 400 families residing within 2 km radius of the launch pad to nearby shelter camps early Saturday morning.
