Shourya hypersonic missile launch successful

.
shurya rounded nose cone has more to do with.aerodynamics.blunt rounded tip pushes away the shockwave further so that the missiles body doesnt get chopped off by superheated gases.

Rite, of course it has to do with aerodynamics. A missile flying within atmosphere at Mach 7.5 needs special aerodynamics and materials. But here we are talking about possible seeker inside it. gambit said such nosecone is required for wide angle seekers.

Ignore the troll.

Excellent. Here is something else to consider...

The greater the CEP figure, the more likely that the warhead will an air burst type. The burst altitude differs, of course, but it is not that difficult to reason out why: Explosions, like electricity or anything under pressure, will ALWAYS seek out the path of least resistance. So why do any damage to dirt? Is that your intention? An air burst will 'radiate' the concussive force in all direction and if there are any material propelled by that force, an air burst will make better use of those material than if those fragments were delivered at ground level.

A 500 lbs bomb or 230 kg will produce a fragmentation human lethal radius out to about 30 meters. Against equipment is a different issue but it is reasonable to cut that figure in half where the equipment is rendered either incapable or severe reduction of contributing to the war effort.

The lower CEP figure will reduce the explosive load needed to create the same level of physical damages to both hard and soft targets. That is why the US is moving towards the Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) type. This will also lower the air burst altitude to take maximum effects of the concussive force and fragments.

Here is something about naval warfare that most people do not realize: If a land structure like a building is damaged, the human warfighters and their equipment can move to another structure/location and continue to prosecute the war. But over water, if the ship is damaged, the human warfighters are either immobilized or their contributorship to the war effort is severely curtailed. They are trapped. That is why it is better to cripple a ship than to sink it. Crippling it takes far less effort and resources. So if you have a very capable warhead with a CEP figure of less then 5 meters, an air burst of 5 meters will do serious damages to the enemy.

Depends... If the turbine is crippled it is a success... in a war it is more dangerous to leave the resource intact.... if the propulsion or turbine didnt cripple because of the burst then it is more dangerous thats why for naval vessels damaging is always a better solution... because they have tendency to close on the target... and shourya is not the optimal solution.. it is brahmos which is always the optimal one..because they hit the target on pin point accuracy

Not many US subsonic cruise missiles were shot down. The word 'prone' is loaded because it implies consistency. The better words are 'odds' or 'possible'.

Now US subsonic missile have hardly faced any threat from point defense systems along with network centric enemy which has most of the action area under the scanner of a wide array of EM.... Infrared.....Optical sensors... etc...... Where time would play a crucial role and stealth would take a back seat........ Not to mention that missile which we are talking of is nuclear capable and can carry 1000+ kg warhead upto a minimum distance of 750 km....... Hence the chance of the target surviving even if it is mobile is very narrow....... I presume the reason why US is investing billions in hypersonic delivery platforms can be attributed to the spread of ESA technology in states like China, India, Iran etc....

It should be more than 1200 km with 500 kg payload. Another thing is if launched like a ballistic missile it will go even further but weight may increase slightly.
I am looking forward for an Anti-ship version of Shaurya.

Avinash chander said it during the first flight," Shaurya is capable of surgical strikes with less than 10m CEP while carrying 300kg payload to a range of over 1950km

There is one AShM under development already with the above said parameters.meant to be arming the Next gen destroyers officially known as P-15B.

It was only because US waged wars on very insignificant countries in a military infrastructure consideration. IF Iraq/Afghan has had good air defence systems, you reply would have been different.

Sub-sonic CMs are only good ,untill they werent detected.Once detected, they are a piece of cake walk bringing them down.
A network of Aerostats and low-level radars together can easily detect terrain hugging sub-sonic CMs. And after detection, these missiles give ample time for the AD gun or AD missile to react( which is a drawback of having a cheap sub-sonic CM)

While the manueverable high speed missile tells a different story. They might be easily to detect, when they flyby and gives very very small window to intercept.

AFAIK, the QRSAM till date is of 2.3 sec from detection to firing of interceptor. And bringing the target down is a completely different faith. Depends on direction of the target, and direction of firing of interceptor, and speed and mnueverability of interceptor and its guidance system.
Never heard of a interceptor with speeds of over Mach 7 practically inducted into any AD network of any country till date.
