It would be appreciated if everyone explains why they voted the way they did.
  1. Think about ethical considerations.
  2. Will Turkey end up being like Iran?
  3. Will this make Turkey into a real regional power?
  4. Does Turkey even need it?
  5. Is it feasible from a technological perspective?
  6. What are the benefits?

Hey Turkey, have you seen what happened to Ukraine?

Turkey NEED nuclear weapons with a sophisticated ballistic missile program if Turkey wants to be considered a serious player in the region...

Otherwise, no matter how dandy Turkish Army looks like, it'll be useless pretty much.

Turks should get their own nuclear program at the right time...

Doesn't Turkey already have nukes as per sharing agreements with NATO?
yes, but if im not mistaken Turkey still needs the permission of the US to use them.

as a side note; i remember i could click on '5 votes' to see who voted what, but with this poll i can't. @Kaan did you toggle this function off perhaps?

I voted yes for several reasons...:

-Israel and Russia are heavily armed with nuclear weapons
-Russia is modernizing it's military
-Israel's military industry is advancing at fast pace and they could supply Turkey's enemies with advanced drones and weapon systems.
-Greece, Israel and Russia are getting more and more powerful and this means Turkey's interests are at stake in the future
-I don't really trust the EU even though Turkey has a good relationship with NATO
-Turkey may develop more middle eastern allies and face more challenges

As for your other questions .....

1.) Do I believe they will become isolated? Hmm, yes I do, because they're next door to Israel and this will concern them greatly. They don't want a balance of power in the Middle East. Iran has an advantage due to mountainous regions they could do it if they wanted and conceal weapons.

2.) Depends how they utilize it, will they use at as pretext to go on offensive like Israel does? If not, if it's strictly defensive purposes I think people won't see them as aggressive so that may have make Turkey look like a balanced power but you still need to consider military strategy and intelligence. Depends on how their future looks.

3.) Answered this . :)

4.) not sure

5.) this relates to number two, i can't guarantee it will have great benefits since NATO would probably abandon Turkey unless they're weapons under NATO's watch. Israel could also threaten other moves such as deploying nuclear capable submarines at home of one of turkey's enemies. It would be difficult for Turkey to do so unless they don't have a strong trustworthy ally in the Middle East I'm skeptical about nuclear weapons for Turkey. I honestly don't have faith in Arabic nations either unless their interests are drastically different in the future. Maybe Iran, turkey and Pakistan would have to form a pact but I'm not sure they all get along well. But, geographically they would need Iran's support since they're closer to the region. This is the number one problem, without Egypt it makes things a lot harder.

First, get your independence from the 19th century colonial powers, then you may dream about becoming a nuclear power.

Nobody really has independence from EU/US besides maybe Iran and Gaza and looks what's happening to them they've been under heavy sanctions/siege for a while now.

Yeah, like Pakistan that gets droned every now and then by its masters in the U.S.A and is allowing America to build a military base in Islamabad??

Turkey is more independent compared to Nuclear Pakistan.

Yes, I think they should. I know Turkey is in Nato, but somehow, I find it hard to believe that US will send their troops to protect them, in case, say Russian attack.

Nuke is the best deterrent. Look at n. Korea. They have less than 10 nukes and that's still keeping the US at bay.
