Should the United States continue to give foreign aid to India?

Most Americans think India no longer needs Foreign Aid.

If you take a poll among Indians, you will find that most Indians think the same way too.

I am sick of reading about such articles in the UK press when it comes to aid by the UK. The Indian government had offered to fill the gaps should Britain themselves decide to stop funding. However UK insisted that they would continue with their aid program and had the Indian government give them an undertaking that they wouldn't block their aid.

These types of articles crop up every time India launches a new satellite or tests a missile, etc. That is several times a year. I wish the UK government would stop sending India any Aid. The problem is not with scarceness of resources. It is the implementation and corruption which makes any aid given useless to the people who actually need it.

If I remember the last time, India offered to send aid to the US after Katerina. That gesture was made with all good intentions because of the number of times America had come to India's rescue in an earlier era. However our bumbling politicians didn't have the foresight to see how such an act could be seen as an insulting gesture by proud Americans.

gentlemen you forget the difference here .india take aid but not like us .they can't attach terms and bla bla with indian aid .they never say daily we give you aid now do more .indian get aid and spend it on rural areas we got and send to swiss bank.there is difference of east and west between aid to pakistan and aid to india .

On a serious note this is the kind of thread i said on a different thread is put on here to get up Indians backs. I dont particularly like these threads as i see the motive behind it. Cheap attack on our neighbour. Guys we are in the same boat and wish we could just stop threads like this.

Since floods in sindh inundated large areas of farmland where are the displaced people doing their toilet works.First take care of them.

Infact it was India that was offering aid to IMF

US is a land of contradictions for sure .... They are the country which needs to repay debt to almost all countries in the world , to world bank , etc etc... their economy is collapsing ,job loss is at its peak still they intrude in internal matters of all countries and claim to be the big boss of the world .....

Regarding India's dependence on foreign aid , i guess its time to call it off !!!

Easy. Uncle SAM will just default on China's loan (US Treasury Bonds).

Fool US can't default on it's debt as the debt is issued in Dollars.It can simply print dollars and pay china with them.China is not holding US treasury bills out of an act of charity but because holding US debt keeps value of it's currency artificially low which make its export cheaper.

Every country wants it's currency to be a reserve currency because the biggest advantage it provides is that it's external debt is held in it's own currency which it could inflate away anytime it want's.

These articles summary is this that India has become so powerful economically that it do not neet aid.Blinded by your anti India sentiment you could not even comprehend that.

When would you get out of your madrassa and try to learn some basic economics and literature?????.
