Should Pakistan get APG-83 AESA Radar for its F-16s

I think Pakistan should move away from F-16s because India is having Unhealthy influence in US plus as more US and India get closer US would start listening to India more , most important if India makes 200 F-16 blk 70 through MII India will have disproportionate influence over Lockheed Martin.

Pakistan should go for Chinese products.
You are right but i dont think that india will go for f16 while knowing usa can impose sanction ...

For Pamistan its only logical tha somehow they upgrade f16 with aesa otherwise f16 will be no more a capable fighter in india pak scenario after arrival of rafael

Alright, listen:

PAF requested for original blk 52s, they said NO Aesa, sorry

We asked again, and again, only to be refused again, so the message is pretty clear, no SABRs or RACRs or any aesa for f-16s. Evm the turk one will need their permission for integration, which will never come. In fact, we were lucky that they didnt refuse us the V9s, heck they initially offered 66V2s for MLU upgrade, which was inferior to our Grifo M3s by a long shot. In short, PAF has accepted the f-16s as they are and will just invest in numbers till they reach 100+, and thats it.

On Euros, CAESAR will be operational someday right? But it will go over 100 million, out of PAFs reach. Fench are busy with indians so no rafs for PAF, evn if they were, theyll cost around the same.

Regarding AWACS, Saab has fixed Aesa grids which covers 150 degree on each side, 300 degree on both. But, zdk houses Aesa dish that can rotate, so call it pesa if you will but it is an aesa modul that happens to rotate, and provides full 360 degree scanning as a result. The KJ-500 and zdk-03 share a lot of tech, much like the jf-17 and j-10.

*PAF is thinking on these lines, churn advanced blks of jf

*Buy used f-16s and give them mlu at best, take their numbers to 10+, squeeze them like Mirages

*Go fifth gen, and develop a foundation to at least ovehaul, assemble and even upgrade them at AMF KAMRA.

No advanced fourth gn fighter fits in between apart from jf-17 blk 3 and onwards will take that role.
this was during the bus and obama administration, the worst years for pakistan in terms of Us -pakistan relations.

now things have simmered down. besides the Turkish aesa wont be ready for sometime so who knows whats around the corner, im not saying its gonna happen, but its a good possibility it may happen.

i only brought up the rafales as you said aesa's on the f16 will alter the balance on the sub continent and indian rafales will have an aesa radar.

i dont know why you brought the typhoon.

as for 5th gen fighters, billal khan's (quwa) site has an article which has an interview from the pakistan airforce chief and he said they will be buying 5th gen fighters of the shelf and will develop one indigenously as a next gen fighter (ngf)

i am aware of the coverage limitations by the saab 2000, im not interested in that but more the radar it self.
yes i know the sdk-03 has a 360 degree coverage.

you still didn't answer the query, which two awacs has the aesa radars?

Possible , but India will try to make as much parts in India to reduce the effects of sanction but it is also true India might not go for F-16s at all F-18 advanced super hornet has more possibility plus it can be used by Indian Navy as Indian navy wants 57 new fighters .

Yes Pakistan should upgrade its F-16s with AESA radar and US will only allow APG-83 AESA on its F-16s and no other AESA as US didn't allow Israel to put its own AESA radars on its F-16s .

Rafales is not the only thing PAF has to worry about

a lot of India fleet is getting upgraded and new aircraft joining

300 plus Su-30 MKI will be upgraded to super sukhoi with AESA radar plus newer Engines.
Jaguars Darin III upgrade 120 with 60 having AESA radar Elta 2052
126 Tejas all will have AESA ELTA 2032/2052
36 Rafales all have AESA
62 Mig 29 upgrades with Zhuk-M radar and new engines
Future 200 fighter either F-16 blk 70 / F-18 ash

I agree but what plan you are talking about are far fetch ... for example as of now only limited numbers of sukohi will be converted to aesa whereas date of these upgrades are not final yet ...

Tejas visibility is very low as there are lot of issues already ...

Anyways to cut long thing short ... pakistan do have its own plans like jf17 for Pakistan is quite successful ... f16 is our air superiority fighter atleast for next 8 to 10 years therefore equiping f16 with aesa in next 4 to 5 years is of prime inportance ...

Furthermore you also need to take into account link17 real time data sharing with 7 Pakistani Awacs (which is high number consider the land area of pakistan) ... within borders even f7pgs and mirrages are getting benefits of aesa real time sharing to some extent ...
