Should Kashmir get a chance to decide their future through Referendum?

No! It instead is pretty weak. They have NO case whatsoever.

UN must implement its decision of referendum in Kashmir.

If UN has to implement its decision, then as per the Resolutions, ALL Pakistani forces including tribesman it has used for fighting in Kashmir in 1947 have to withdraw first, which Pakistan has not done till date. So that is a non starter.

If the UN has to implement its decision, then there is NO third option of independence. It's either India or Pakistan. So either way, independence to Kashmir is out of the question.

On what grounds should there be a referendum in Kashmir? Scotland's case is totally different.

If independence is an option, then why not a referendum in Balochistan, Sind, Waziristan, etc for independence?

I repeat, THERE IS NO THIRD OPTION OF INDEPENDENCE IN THE UN RESOLUTIONS. Period!

So why is Pakistan continually harping on the UN Resolutions?

The Simla Agreement has overtaken the UN Resolutions.

Lastly, the UN Resolutions which were passed under Chapter VI of UN charter are considered non binding and have no mandatory enforceability.

my advise to India would be to put off the talks for good as of now, Kashmir is already sealed off in your side, state a solid condition for talks only when there is real civilian supremacy on ground in Islamabad ,till then no matter what just don't start the talks

Yes they should & this is what India had decided when they went crying to US to stop Pakistan from liberating Kashmir with Pakistan.

India had promised in written that they will allow Kashmirs to decide their future but till date Kashmiris are been terrorized by illegally occupied Indian forces. India knows if they give the right for the Kashmiris to decide their future, Kashmir will go back to Pakistan. So Indians fear this & are continuing to terrorize the people of Kashmir.

So that's what's written in Pakistani text books!! Great!

Now all you need is to grow up and start reading more serious stuff like international research papers and books on the subject. For far too long have kids like you been taken for a ride by your propaganda.

We all saw that in 1965, when your mard-e-momin SSG commandos werw airdropped into Kashmir, in operation grandslam/grandmess, expecting to be welcomed with garlands by Kashmiris.

What happened was an epic anti climax - the local Kashmiris led them to the police station, where they spent the rest of the war, eating sarkaari food.

Referendum for secession is illegal in indian constitution.
Pakistan didn't fulfil the prerequisite to hold the referendum in 1948. After 1965 it lost the moral right to demand referendum after pakistan tried to militarily capture Kashmir. After the 1972 Simla agreement, Pakistan has forfeited any demands for referendum.

If pak wants a referendum in Kashmir, then, according to the U.N resolution of 1948, the Paksitani Army should return back from Azad Kashmir to status quo ante bellum. Till then, keep shouting....
