This country needs to move beyond what the slavers did and what wounds it left.
And the ensuing laws, bad habits, poor politics, self-serving excuse & philosophical implications, etc …
In short, you're perfectly right but don't wait up?
@C130 I don't live in USA but if one went through ( drove or walked ) through a African American neighbourhood would it be no big deal or what?
I'll concur with Peter that bad neighborhoods are caused by an admixture of factors. Race, poverty,
subsidies, municipal politics, although there is a "recipe".
The ones that are unsafe are unsafe for everyone. I've been in
one incident clearly racial and localized …
in a country I've known, visited and lived in over the last 45 years +. It was in a real dump in Detroit.
The same variations apply to guns, Maine is in the highs for gun ownership but their guns like in Europe
are for hunting animals, not shooting folks. Hawaii has even more and yet Maine is 8th lowest and Hawaii
5th lowest in gun murders. Kansas with over 40% ownership is lowest of all in both murders & gun murders.
In general, the minimum you must know about the US is to separate two entities :
New England, even with New York is more european in mindset and California is a
new experiment.
The rest is also varied but can still be summarily bunched up as heartland, cowboys, rednecks, etc.
Small town America save the deep South is a great place to live nonetheless.
Good day all, Tay.
