Shinde’s Hindu terrorism stance endorsed

NEW DELHI – Strongly backing Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s remarks on Hindu terrorism, Indian Home Secretary and External Affairs Minister have said the remarks are based on facts and at least 10 people, who were involved in a spate of terror attacks in different parts of the country, had links with Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) or its affiliated organisations. “Yes, during investigation of Samjhauta Express, Makkah Masjid and (Ajmer) Dargah Sharif blasts, we have found at least 10 names who have been associated with the RSS at some point or the other,” Indian Home Secretary RK Singh told reporters. Singh was replying to a question on whether government has any evidence linking RSS with any person involved in any terrorist strike anywhere in the country as claimed by Shinde. “We have evidence against them. There are statements of witnesses,” he said. The Home Secretary also made public the names of the 10 people who were involved in terror attacks and also had links with RSS. The names given out by Singh included that of Sunil Joshi (dead), who was allegedly involved in Samjhauta Express and Ajmer Sharif Dargah blasts. He was an activist of RSS in Dewas and Mhow from 1990s to 2003. Sandeep Dange (absconding), who was involved in Samjhauta Express and Makkah Masjid and Ajmer Sharif Dargah explosions. He was RSS pracharak in Mhow, Indore, Uttarkashi and Sajhapur from 1990s to 2006. The Home Secretary also named Lokesh Sharma (arrested) who was involved in Samjhauta Express and Makkah Masjid blasts. He was RSS ‘nagar karyavahak’ in Deogarh. Swami Assemanand (arrested), involved in Samjhauta Express, Makkah Masjid and Ajmer Sharif Dargah blasts. He was associated with RSS wing Vanavashi Kalyan Parishad in Dang, Gujarat in 1990s to 2007. Rajender alias Samunder (arrested), involved in Samjhauta and Makkah Masjid blasts. He was RSS Varg Vistarak. Mukesh Vasani (arrested), involved in Ajmer Sharif Dargah blast. He was an activist of RSS in Godhra Devender Gupta (arrested), allegedly involved in Makkah Masjid blast, was an RSS pracharak in Mhow and Indore. Chandrasekhar Leve (arrested), allegedly involved in Makkah Masjid, was an RSS pracharak in Shajhanpur in 2007 Kamal Chouhan (arrested), involved in Samjhauta and Makkah Masjid explosions was an RSS activist. Ramji Kalsangra (absconding), involved in Samjhauta Express and Makkah Masjid blasts, was also an RSS associate. Meanwhile, Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid Tuesday also backed Shinde’s statement on Hindu terrorism saying it was based entirely on facts made available by investigative agencies. He, however, said that terror has no religion and colour.“Let me just say this to you very clearly that our stated position, that is shared fully by the home minister and past home minister, is based entirely on facts as the investigative agencies have made available to the government,” Khurshid told reporters here. On the Pak-India LoC issue, he said: “We did hear some statements about giving access to third parties in this affair (LoC flare-up). I think we have moved away from that.” He said there has been a clear reaffirmation of the bilateral process. “I think that the contacts between the DGMOs of both sides have indicated that the bilateral process remains in a sustained and steady manner,” he said.Khurshid added “We haven’t heard anything more about statements that obviously are not acceptable to us. We do reiterate our position that these are bilateral issues and they should be settled bilaterally”. Other the other hand, annoyed from Shinde for revealing the true picture, Indian main opposition Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) said the minister should be sacked giving nationwide protest call on Thursday despite the fact that Congress was standing firmly behind him.“A lightweight home minister is in the habit of speaking lightly... Shinde should be sacked and the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi should apologise,” BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said. But, parliamentary affairs minister Kamal Nath brushed aside the BJP’s criticism as an attempt to divert attention from its internal squabbles. Backing Shinde’s claim, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said some people in the RSS were training terrorists and were also involved in terror activities. “The home minister has said the same things that I was saying for the past 11 years,” Singh said. “He said this because he has evidence. The fact has been proved, investigation is going on, and some people have been arrested in the matter.”
