I thought this referendum is illegal? so why they continue with it?

Because Israel and America agree to hold a referendum.

What is clear is that if this referendum is held and Kurdistan is separated from Iraq, there will be a great war between the Iraqi people and the Kurdistan region, and we all know that Iran and Turkey are on the Iraq side.

Hello friends. According to the spokesman for the iran National Security Council, all of Iran's air borders have been closed to the Iraqi Kurdistan region and all flights to the Iraqi Kurdistan have been canceled and no flights from Iraqi Kurdistan have the right to cross Iran's airspace. All these demands were made at the request of the Central Government of Iraq

Iran will starve these kord if they continue these childish shenanigans. Almost all the food, produce, goods and products in Iraqi Kordistan are from Iran. The KRG has been an almost independent/ autonomous entity since 1991 now. Seems like that is not enough, they really want out.
