SIALKOT: Deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that the present Punjab rulers were wasting billions of rupees, earned through the taxes of the poor masses of Pakistan, on mega projects for their projection and publicity.

Addressing a gathering in Sambrial on Sunday, he criticised the Metro Bus project and said that the current rulers of the province had focused only on Lahore for mega projects, creating a sense of deprivation among the majority of the masses living in the backward rural areas of the province.

He said that Punjab was the richest province in the country when he quit the CM’s office in 2008, but the Sharif brothers had bankrupted it with their lavish and visionless projects. He said the present Punjab rulers had abandoned the mega projects approved during his tenure, including the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, milk plant and labour colony, due to their political grudge against the PML-Q without considering the pain and miseries of the masses.

He said that Sharif brothers must pay attention to maintain law and order in the province and stop worrying about Sindh. He said the PML-Q had emerged as an important political force in the country and it would achieve new successes in the coming general elections with the help and cooperation of its allies. Former state minister Ali Asjad Malhi, MPA Rao Rizwan, PML-Q district president Azeem Noori Ghumman and others were also present on the occasion.

APP adds: Deputy Prime Minister and PML-Q leader Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that his party had finalised seat adjustment with the PPP and it would contest the coming general elections under this formula.

He said that political future of the PML-Q was bright and it would steer the country out of all crises after coming into power. He claimed that the PML-Q would win the general elections on the basis of its performance. He said that there would not have been any loadshedding in Punjab if the PML-N government had not shelved the welfare-oriented projects initiated by the PML-Q government in Punjab. He alleged that the Punjab rulers were promoting the politics of vendetta instead of serving the masses.

He strongly criticized the Punjab government for allegedly wasting the public money on launching, what he termed the ‘Jungla Bus Service’ in Lahore by spending Rs40 billion on the project. He said the Punjab government would have to bear Rs1 billion subsidy loss, a great financial loss, every month through this ‘Jungla Bus Project’.

Pervaiz said the PML-Q would award party tickets purely on merit to its candidates and it would never allow anyone to harm democracy in the country.Ch Pervaiz Elahi pledged to revive all development projects, including, the Sialkot-Lahore Motorway, abandoned by the PML-N Punjab government. Earlier, Ch Pervaiz Elahi was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at Sambrial.
