Hard to say. As you can see, I just joined PDF for 2 months, starting right when the VN-China relationships heated up in May with the Haiyang 981 rig incident. Before that I didn't care about VN-China relationships at all. I thought that we (VN, China and Philippine) were still argueing in the UN about the 9 dash line map. I was surprised when TV brought news about Chinese rig and escort ships entered our water. At that time, I thought "D@mn, war is coming". After being surprised, the next emotion came to me was anger. I felt like I must take actions, and I;m sure many VNese thought the same, thus the riot happened. I joined PDF after that and was very aggressive against Chinese mems here. But I took time and thought and are more reasonable now.

So I tell you that to inform you that my voice may be biased, but it's a propose from VN side about the SCS tension:
1/ China should not cause any more cases in this sensitive moment (no more rigs, ramming, water cannon or arresting VN fishermen. Of course China can take notes about them and give complain to VN in later date).
2/ China, VN and Philippine should sit down and have an international talk about SCS issues, with UN as the supervisor.
3/ China and VN should discuss about payment for damaged ships on both side.

That should cool things down a bit. But I doubt China will do that. A VN General already expect that China withdrew the rig is not the end, but only the beginning. As they now can bring as many rigs as the want, when they want and where they want in SCS, and VN and Philippines can hardly do anything to them.

I can empathize with your position, given the dynamic relationship the People's Republic of China has had with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Japan has not experienced any recent negativity with Vietnam for us to render such mistrust. On the contrary, we have working relationship with them , with the possibility of becoming strategic.

I really lose it when I see someone stereo type people. Vietnam and China are on different sides of the battlefield so you are free to talk bad about Vietnam. But don't talk bad about the people. Fight the enemies, but respect them even in death.

Vietnam is an independent country, it makes friends and enemies with who it sees fit. Vietnam doesn't need China to decide anything for it. Supporting VN in the war did not make China or Soviet VN master, so don't talk about loyalty or gratefulness.

I speak the truth. A mistake was made and we learned a hard lesson.

VCP tries hard to paint Repulic of Vietnam (ROV) the American puppet, but I think some presidents of ROV at least tried to regain independence and did something good for the people. The war between North and South VN was a conflict of ideology and belief, not a seperation of Vietnamese blood.

Soviet Union helped China CPC so you won on KMT, huge mount weapons handed to CPC after WW II and liberated Manchuria for you. But what did China in 1969 when you attacked Soviet Union to show your betrayal mentality to US that China change position in cold war.

China is ungrateful with Soviet Russia, Korea and Vietnam who were by side with China in cold war.
