'Shadinota' Class corvette news and discussion.

Shadinota class corvette is Chinese Type-056 class corvette's base corvette. The world Shadinota means liberty. Bangladesh have gotten it's ToT (Transfer of Technology) and going to build it. They will stealthy and their possible sea state is 8 as Type-056. Though they are corvettes but owing to their extraordinary firepower they can be called a light frigate. Type-056 or shadinota class corvette are world's one of the best corvette. These corvettes have better firepower and other facilities than Myanmar's Kyan shittah class frigates. The Shadinota class corvettes will easily win in battle with Kyan Shittah class Frigates.


Description :-

1. Length - 90 meter.

2. Beam - 11.6 meter.

3. Draught - 4.4 meter.

4. Displacement - 1330 ton

5. Crew - 78

6. Speed - 30 Nautical Mile.

7. Operational Range - 2000 Nautical Mile.

They have two disel engine which produce 5,146 kilo watt electricity these give it 2,000 nautical mile opetational range. A boat can keep in it's deck. It have also a helicopter deck where AW-139 can land.


Armaments :-

1. A 76 mm Main Gun.

2. Two 30 mm CIWS.

3. Four C-802A anti ship missile (Range 180 km)

4. 324 mm triple torpedo tube

5. Eight FL-3000N SAM

China made 4 shadinota class corvette for Bangladesh Navy. They are.....

1. BNS Shadinota.

2. BNS Prottoy.

3. BNS Songram

4. BNS Prottasha.

BNS Shadinota & BNS Prottoy are currently on service in Bangladesh Navy. BNS Prottasha & BNS Songram are on sea trial in china. Now more four shadinota class corvette will build at Chittagong dry dock yard.

Shadhinota (স্বাধীনতা) = Freedom

Prottoy (প্রত্যয়) = Confidence, Conviction

Sangram (সংগ্রাম) = Struggle

Prottasha (প্রত্যাশা) = Hope, Expectation

These corvettes do not have an ASW function and lack sonar or torpedo weapons. At some point ASW rockets may be fitted, @BDforever do you know what is the latest on this ?

Heli-deck is small but it may not be an issue. Plenty of 200KG class heli-drones are available nowadays which can do ASW sensoring without torpedo launch capability.

AFAIK this can carry and host AW-139 class helis.

The Shadinota class has 8 sea state where Kyan Shittah class has 4.
Our Corvette uses C-802A anti ship missile which range is 180 km and the Kyan shittah class uses C-802 AShM which range is 120 km whereas our corvette's missile has 60 km additional range than Kyan Shitah class. Our Corvette's SAM has 9 km range where Kyan shitah's igla has 5.2 km range. So we can say Shadinota class Corvette is superior than Kyan shitah class Frigate.

Actually we also used C - 802A . but in quantity , our frigates have total 8 missiles on board while BDs has only 4.

Our Corvette's SAM has 9 km range where Kyan shitah's igla has 5.2 km range.

but in case of supersonic missiles , FL-3000N has just only 6km. the same with our Igla-S's 5.6km.
regarding underwater threat in which ur corvette lacking completely , our frigate has Depth charge , 2x RBU -1200 and 2 x triple TAL or Yu-4 torpedo.

lets see the commets from naval expert "Penguin"u will get something from it.

its stupid to put igla and CIWs like fl2000 in the same level...

Can igla shoot down sea skimming cruise missiles? obviously not... or supersonic missiles? its designed to shoot down visible targets such as low flying helicopters, UAV and so on...

Russians could bomb Syria by flying 4000meter above height, which igla type missile cant do much after that height...
