before going to political issues, look at the attitude of common pakistanis. They support, encourage war in afghansitan, give it all the right and wrong names to keep the war alive. but when it comes to paksitan, they wont like that idiea.

I don't know which common Pakistanis you are talking about, most of the common Pakistanis with whom I daily interact would prefer to seal Afghanistan's border with Pakistan and want their government to concentrate entirely towards the betterment of the economical condition of this country.

The Taliban are an off-shoot of the Mujahideen. The Mujahideen that once were regarded as heroes in the West had members such as Mullah Umar, Haqqani & others that are the leaders of the Taliban today.

A more accurate statement would be that all the groups in the region today are on off-shoot of the Mujahideen formed by Saudi Arabia & the US in the 80s.

Some of the Mujahideen's members: OBL, Mullah Umar, Haqqani, Hekmatyar, Masood

The Mujahideen split after the Soviet war.

OBL formed Al Qaeda
Mullah Umar formed the Taliban
Haqqani formed the Haqqani network (which has now merged with the Taliban)
Masood formed the Northern Alliance
Hekmatyar formed the Hezb-e-Islami
