Sexual revolution as Indian Supreme Court sanctions co-habitation

India’s Supreme Court ruled yesterday that unmarried couples have the right to live together after hearing a case involving a Tamil actress accused of corrupting young minds by promoting premarital sex.

The judges pointed out that even the Hindu gods, Lord Krishna and Radha, were co-habiting lovers rather than man and wife. “When two adult people want to live together, what is the offence?” they said. “Living together is not an offence. Living together is a right to life.”

The ruling marks a legal milestone in India’s sexual revolution as younger members of the urban professional classes slowly but steadily break down traditional taboos.

It is unlikely, however, to change habits among most Indians, who rarely indulge in premarital sex, let alone cohabit with lovers, and usually have their spouses chosen by their parents.

It's indiffrent to me as it's indian matter but if anyone thinking something like this to promote in Pakistan i'll strongly oppose this bcz of 2 main reasons:

1). Religion
2). Our traditions and culture.

We don't have to adopt every western custom just to show ourselfs as secular or modern bcz traditions and culture are also very important. There are good and some questionable things in every culture but compared to western culture our asian culture is better then their atleast i think like this.

It was bound to happen, if two persons (a guy and a girl) are studying or working in a city which is not native to them and parents don't keep an eye on them, they start doing things which were impossible before. I think in sub-continent, it's not morals or consciousness which dictates but the society, thousands in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are into these pre-marital relationships involving sex. Checkout any desi scandal MMS websites you will see couples from the subcontinent making home nude videos as if there is no tomorrow.
I think supreme court did the right thing, court knew they can't control the raging hormones of human being why society take justice into their own hand and harm/punish couples.

BTW I like the picture of Indian lady infront of gods:partay::partay:. And you people get offended when some Danish draws profane Prophet Mohammad's pictures!! Carry on the subcontinent hypocrisy.:cheers:

if the western culture has some good things compared to our culture, why dont we assimilate those god features in our own culture?

this is a good decision on part of the supreme court. however it is in a way moot. pre-marital sex was never illegal in india.
freedom of pursuit of happiness is a fundamental right, and if the happiness comes from cohabitation and pre marital sex, so be it. doing so does not harm anyone and is therefore not immoral.

it can be argued that such things are not part of our culture, but then cultures need to evolve with time. the conditions today allow things to be part of our culture which were not possible earlier.
