I am glad the Army has taken the step to provide some details to the public, since that then assures many that the Army is not hiding something. Coming from the usually 'secretive' Pakistan Army, such a disclosure is a pretty big step, and a welcome one.

The public does not need any details that might jeoperdize investigations, and the public does not even need to know about any detentions if they are part of an investigation into a larger network or cell, but disclosure efter investigations or limited disclosure that does not jeoperdize investigations is welcome.

Well he is just detained for investigations, he might get clear, but he is likely to be punished bcaz army might be having some concrete evidences, otherwise 'detention' would not have been made public.

This Investigation is Actually part of the operations against CIA MOSAAD agents ,and we will see how Army Handle this delicate matter, As three generations of this Officer's family have been serving in Army , Even now His Brother and son are in Army.

A group of liberals(in pursuit of safeguard of Pakistan,Pakistanis & Pakistan's interests) taking over army will be a billion times better than exteremist who support terrorists, the same terrorists who force young 8, 9 years old school kids to become suicide bombers. Even if the Brig in question had any links with extremist organization there was no need to publicize that out loud, Such news should remain in dark, now they have provided a reason for the whole world to believe that ''western apprehensions were accurate and we do have extremist elements in our Armed forces'' Kiyani and his minions lack foresight to predict the consequences of their actions, Now Kiyani will be smooched by his American counterparts but the institution of military will be defamed.

I can understand the media getting the facts wrong, but why on earth would the entire institution of the Army want to 'play games' with this particular individual?

The only alternative viable alternative in the said situation (fishy) could be that the Brig. is more amenable to the US view and could have been helpful in the OBL exposure. That clearly makes him an enemy of the army.

The alternative possibility maybe?

Those things happen all the time, and typically are handled quietly in the Army through disciplinary processes and, if necessary, dismissal from service/Court Martials.

This is something that is considered normal in any professional military - discipline has to be maintained. Soldiers and junior officers should not be going around bad mouthing their superiors. It is very unlikely that the Army would publicize this particular incident as a 'terrorist sympathiser case' over a simple disciplinary issue.

Those individuals have already been arrested, over 30 or so per Ambassador Haqqani, and investigations continue.

And if this particular Brig. was found to have helped the US in an 'un-authorized capacity', then he deserves to be prosecuted for treason.

However I doubt that he was arrested for assisting the US, because the US would probably leak out the fact that he assisted in the intelligence gathering to track down OBL in order to put pressure on Pakistan to show lenience towards him.
