Sending In The PAF

what we need to buy a good SAM system of long range which we dont have yet to completely safe guard our borders and who will provide china and russia as russia also sick of NATO if we ask them that their system will be agianst NATO they will be more than happy to give us if they dont china is another supplier

the issue at hand is not the capability of the PAF but many people, including on this forum remembering the PAF scrambling and interdicting Soviet & Afghan airforces aircraft which crossed the international border and airspace. many of the intruders were 'shot down'.
the Soviets were a Superpower then?

what is so different today?
The airforce faces a dilemma, 1)Its Frontline service entirely consists of US aircraft, but while these aircraft present an excellent deterrent to our eastern border, it can not do so for western since the US has since built it, thus they know all of its limitations and thus crack codes. However, if this front line inventory suffers at western border, PAF looses its deterrent to eastern border as well, which would be disastrous. 2)The backbone platforms are either not upto the match i.e. Mirages,F-7s or are newbies i.e. JFT.Moreover, PAF has a lot of replacements due i.e. replacing multirole squadrons of Mirages, Naval Squadrons of Mirages and then would come interceptor squadrons (since their role is rather limited vis-a-vis MR and front line assets) Thus air force will remain limited unless we don't see a non-us system joining the front line service and essentially army is on its own on the western border.
What to do?
The army can deploy manpads on the western boarder, Instead of having AA which is not only visible and logistically more cumbersome, Manpads can be deployed remotely, swiftly and thus a net can effectively be built around established posts of PA. Moreover, these can be backed with Low range SAMs, the most dangerous foes on the western front are halos for which manpads would be an excellent deterrent, SAMs can keep the fighters off from helping the halos.

Last night, in one of the talk shows, a former PAF AVM touched the very subject,....during the Afghan/Soviet conflict, albeit the PAF shot down over a dozen intruders but the PAF still had to fight with limitations...while the enemy intruded at will bombed the border areas and escaped back into Afghan territory, the PAF on the other hand operated under strict ROE...like the targeted enemy aircraft must fall within Pakistani territory, at jet speed the miles always seem shorter. A lot of flying hours were also wasted on fruitless orbits. According to the AVM, in such a situation the Mani-pads are the best option which have reportedly been deployed now.

man pad news is fake and i don't think we will ever use them

It has widely been reported that the Army Chief has issued the order to the units on the border to return fire without further seeking any clearance...... if such a scenario develops, surely the soldiers aren't expected to engage the threat merely with their AK-47s.!!

But i still don't see the need for heavy weaponry deployment....The area is suitable for surprise attacks....Thats why i was emphasizing on building a secure network around the checkposts as the NATO would certainly plan according to whats fielded on the posts and remote launchers can certainly complicate things for them....

After the first Hell fires stuck the posts, they ultimately knocked out all the communications, the survivors gallantly put up a firefight with whatever that was at their disposal, but due to pitch darkness they were completely blind to see where the fire was coming from.... in any case, their assault rifles were of no use against armed choppers flying out of range.

I think the purchase of the F16 block52 was a treacherous move to spend all the money on what is basically a tin can. all the money should have given to HEC for promoting education in pakistan. I think all those involved should be tried for treason and squandering money. nothing can stand against the USAF - its supremacy has only increased since 1941 with total dominance now....why do you think the USSR developed the SAMs - they had no hope of facing the USAF in air combat...

All our wars have been fought on the Eastern border, hence the Block-52s weren't purchased with USAF in mind.
Indeed the money could be spent on enhancing the Nation's standards, but then again, we live in a very hostile part of the world.

The money already allotted for education should have been used properly first, then talk about additional funds.

And as WJ said, we live in a hostile world.

Pakistanis have very small brain i think - They want to attack NATO knowing fully well that it can convert Pakistan into Iraq in matter of days.In fact just think maybe NATO is just trying to find a excuse to do that..Sure it's 24 soldiers life is huge loss but keep in mind if you are fighting war you have to take casualties loosing few battles to win the war is not a bad proposition.

We are not 100% innocent bro..We also play games with them.If we were not involved at all and they attacked then we had 100% right to send cruise missiles to their bases. This game is far too big and our leadership is involved and they make a fool our of common public.

We need Iran's backing. They are prepared to defend against NATO and we need to learn from that.
