ISLAMABAD – Senator Faisal Javed has resigned from the convership of the Pakistan-France Parliamentary Friendship group in protest over French President Emmanuel Macron’s encouraging the displaying blasphemous caricatures and triggering Islamophobia in Europe.
In his resignation letter, the PTI leader wrote: “In our opinion by such actions the French President not only contributed and further invigorated the spread of the Islamophobia which was highlighted by our Prime Minister lrrran Khan, twice at the UNGA and at other international forums”.
“He stressed that the actions of demonizing Islam and blaspheming the holiest figures will further polarize the humanity and provide breeding grounds for the radical views and needs to be stooped and internationally banned through binding international legislation on the pattern of laws banning Nazis doctrine,” the senator quoted the premier as saying in the letter.
He said that actions like the ones by the French President have a potential to do more harm to humanity than the Nazi ideology or racist tendencies,
“The PM has also adopted a clear stance on this unfortunate issue and taken an unambiguous position informing the Muslim leaders globally and at the same time reiterated that hurting the religious sentiments of billions of Muslims cannot be justified in the name of some freedom of expression logic of the French government,” read the letter.
Concluding his letter, he requested that the Pakistan - France parliamentary Friendship group should also be dissolved.
